Il Ciclista di Sirmione Bike Rent

I am very pleased with the work with Il Ciclista di Sirmione bike rent! The bike was great and also Sebastian (manager at the rent station) recommended me to drive around Garda lake and helped to make proper route. It was 150 km of pleasure and beautiful sight seeing. On the third day when I got a hole in the wheel, I came to the rental and experts for 5 minutes solved my problem at no extra charge. I highly recommend it to all bike lovers and will definitely use it on my next visit to Sirmione

It's not always easy to hire decent road bikes on holiday, so finding Il Ciclista di Sirmione was a stroke of luck. I've hired from them twice now, first time a couple of years ago, and very happy to go back when I was in the area again this week. It's a small family business, they all know their stuff, give great advice on cycling in the area and some entertaining banter (they all speak English too). But most importantly they supplied well set-up, properly sized, quality bikes at a reasonable price. Highly recommend them if you're a roadie looking to do a bit of cycling around Lake Garda.

This week I rent a racing/road bike at Il Ciclista di Sirmione Bike Rent. Short review: 100% excellent. Detailed review: Excellent service, excellent bike, excellent price-performance ratio. It sometimes is not that easy to get a good racing/road bike in the Mediterranean, if you're 1.98 m (6.5 f) tall... They got a XL racing/road bike. Everything had been perfectly adjusted, even the pedals. Just brought my helmet and cycling shoes and was good to go. 30 euros a day. And: nice people. You just feel that kind of deep cycling amore. Lots of amore! Would have given another sixth star, if it was possible. I'll be back! Hervorragender Kundenservice, äußerst freundliches und kompetentes Personal, exzellentes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Habe mir mit meinen 1.98 ein passendes (!) Rennrad geliehen. Pedale wurden passend zu meinen Rennradschuhen/Cleats montiert, alles auf meine Körpergröße angepasst. Schaltung, Bremsen, Handling - Rad lief super. 30 Euro/Tag. Was will man mehr? Hätte sogar einen Bonusstern verdient. Jederzeit wieder!)

If you find another place to rent bikes, do so! I can see reading the reviews that there are different experiences with this place. Ours was a bad one. One out of two bikes is a bad one. I had no problem with mine and the other one we had booked would probably also be fine. But the second bike we actually got was not. It makes a lot of noise and the derailleurs are off. We have to avoid all climbes even though the lady said it’ll be perfect for climbes. One of the first things the lady behind the counter said was ‘No! You’re not getting my bike’. The reason for this welcoming outburst was that one of us had normal pedals (not cleats) - which we had told them when we booked the bikes and they said nothing about this beeing a problem. She insisted on that normal pedals would ruin her bike and then kept on going about people stealing her bikes so we should be really careful - locks would not help. Ok, good too know. We had one nice day riding, but it was tainted and as I mentioned both pace and the opportunity to climb was gone because of the one bike. We rented bikes quite a few places. No problems ‘til this place; so again my tip is to find a different one if you can. ... The next day I came back to get a new tire (the one we got was wore down - too bad we did not check this properly before we started, we just noticed it 20-ish km after we started). She again said it was our fault - that we did not know how to use a bike (see image in the review). She illuded that we had done this on purpose and so forth. So not only did the ride start late (the shop only opens at 0900), put she gave me a hard time saying that we had done this - that the tires was brand new when we got it. I finally got the bike back with a new tire and she again managed to be rude saying she wanted the bike back in the same condition it now was in: Her husband had now adjusted the spokes on the wheel - as the 70-ish km we had ridden had dislocates them. While I was there it seemed that this other guy had the similar problem with one of his tires, allthough I can’t bee sure since they spoke italian. I did one stupid thing; I started complaining about the seat. That I should not have done - it justed made things worse. I was hoping to get a totally new bine with a different seat since the seat was wide and too soft. She again said that we did not know how to ride a bike - everybody else using this seat was happy, always! Don’t know what to say... just that it’s incredible that these guys are in business after 20 years - which she told me miltiple times.

Great road bike rental experience here. Bike was awesome, almost new Ridley Carbon Frame, Shimano 105 groupset. It’s clear they know what they are doing.

Requested per email the rental of two good road bikes for a week of cycling through Veneto. Agreed the pick up day, and that it could be delivered back within the opening hours any day of the week (if the trip was cut short). The service per email was terrific and the bikes rented were great. Well serviced, good rides! However, around midnight the day before pickup we were contacted by the shop telling us they had forgot that they were to be closed the following day, but if we could pick up the bikes at 09:00, it wouldn’t be a problem. We waited outside for 20minutes before the owners showed up, angry that they had to open the store on their day off. I can’t see how I was ro blame for this. Off we went with the bikes for six great days on the road. On the day of return I checked the website and google (see attached photos) for the opening hours. As google said the store closed 18:30 and the web site says 19:00 I sent a text and asked what was correct (as we were returning by train). It was confirmed that the store would be open until 19:00. When arriving at 18:40 the owners again angry and yelled at us for 20 minutes as the rental closes at 18(!) and they had to wait for us. Also, the road bikes were not to be used for longer trips than around Sirmione/lake Garda and they asked why we didn’t book touring bikes instead. Bikepacks was a big no no, due to the carbon bikes being broken if used. When I said that the web site, google AND their written confirmation both agreed to the opening hours and the use of the bikes I was told I was wrong. I am not very happy with being yelled at for no reason. The bikes were great, the price was fair, the cycling in Veneto tremendous. We haven’t wrecked your bikes and the bike packs haven’t even touched the precious carbon. Please be more kind to your customers, and update information on internet. Next time I guess I will need to bring my own bike (or as you yelled to us: use another rental shop). Great bikes, very helpful and lovely staff. Rented 4 bikes for 2 days, all of them good quality, sturdy ‘city’ bikes but held up well on some rough paths around the lake. Were also given bike locks and the bikes had baskets on front. Couldn’t recommend this place more- we were all so impressed with the prices, quality and customer service! A must to rent bikes for Lake Garda!

We have had a great experience and they were so helpful and chatty and have us some really good city bikes, had zéró problems with them during our 3 days trip round Lake Garda. Highly recommend ❤️
