Il Casato Deluxe Rooms & Sea View Restaurant

Fantastic service, the food is fresh or Bette than fresh. The personal is nice and very pleasant. The place itself has one of the best views around.

I usually dont give average or even bad reviews, but...i went there, busy saturday night, eventhough they gave me a table on terrace and views by the sunset was just stunning! Place seems posh/fancy. They brought me menu..and after a while english menu..well, since my knowledge of seafood is better in italian i went with that (maybe they could ask first if i understand them or something..)..maybe is the overall fault at my side, i am very shy and that may seem i am rude or something. And once again as i travel through italy i clearly see that for me staff/service is the main part of food experience. If staff is friendly and nice, food may be average but it seems like a feast for gods. I ordered stuffed mussels, sepia ink spaghetti and swordfish rolls all'eoliana. Mussels were just great, spaghetti also, rolls..well, i was on lipari and something eolian was missing, cant describe it, very average meal. House wine was not good. And staff...i do not know if they were scared of me or what, but it seemed like they are actively detouring my table. They paid more attention to italians thats sure...very cold faces, not even smile, not one question if i like my food...i left there quite a big bill so i am sure that it could have gotten me one smile or buonanotte...but nothing. For me another average place i will not remember. Maybe only views from terrace.

Plates for the same course arrived with 5 minutes between. One of us ordered the risotto with lobster. The rice were undercooked, and there were no tools to crack the lobster open. When we finally managed to get hold of a waiter, they brought us a nutcracker.. The view from the terrace is amazing, but the food and the service is very overpriced - almost 30€ per person without wine and without dessert.

reviewing the restaurant, this proved an excellent choice in Scilla: breathtaking location right upon the shore, watching the sea in front and the Scilla castle on the top left; mediterranean cuisine with great combination of fresh ingredients (mezzelune al pescespada e gamberi were gorgeous, as it was the filetto di alalunga con patate e cipolla di tropea); good choice of local wines; very professional service completed the great experience. Finally price / quality ratio was very convenient in general and especially for us living outside Italy

Thank you for the delicious sea food. It is a wonderful restaurant directly on the sea. We can’t use the terrace on the sea because the weather was horrible. The restaurant is „small“ but wonderful. The service Personal is very obliging. Thank you for this very delicious meal.

The views at this restaurant are unreal. It’s absolutely stunning! The meal we had was great. I had the stuffed mussels and then an almond pesto pasta. For dessert, I enjoyed a tartufo of Pizzo. Definitely come here if you want a nice and relaxing dining experience!

What can I say? You must go there. For lunch or for dinner, the view it’s simply breathtaking. The staff was amazing. We arrived very late, 5min before closing time and they offered us the best table and service anyway. Good it’s simply genuine and full of the real Calabrian flavours. Portions are good as well. If you go to Scilla, you MUST eat there. Look at my pictures to understand.

Had dinner at Il Casato on our first evening in Scilla, recommended by the owner of our guest house. We were downstairs, the room is very nicely decorated (loved the blue tiles on the floor in contrast with the brick arches), however we had no sea view. It didn’t really bother us, as the food in our plate compensated this very nicely. As a starter, the fish boulettes were delicious, quite juicy and tasty. As a main, went for a sword fish pasta dish (“Paccheri pasta with sword fish, almond pesto and orange”), as sword fish is one of the key element of Scilla’s cuisine. For dessert, indulged in the puff pastry with figs. Additional highlight was the wine paired with dinner, a white Calabrian biological wine from the Crotone area: “Vescovado” guardavalle bianco, really exquisite.
