★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went there after the suggestion of a Roman friend; Hostaria Da Cesare is more than a family restaurant, is an institution in Rome for traditional dishes! If you are in luck ask for the Fiori di Zucca, or for a proper carbonara; the service is also exceptional and will make sure you enjoy your stay!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I got the feeling the waiter didn’t want me there, and it was such an effort to do anything. I was being polite but it didn’t do much good.
To be fair, the food looked and tasted nice (if a bit pricey) but can’t overlook the unwelcome service.
Got a drink in a dirty glass and left after a starter.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were recently in Rome for 4 nights and chose to eat here 3 nights out of 4 because the food was perfect. All of the staff was friendly, but there was one younger waiter who was extra attentive and kind to my mother, daughter and me. We are grateful for their high quality food and hospitality. My daughter took a picture of the front of the restaurant so she remembers where to go when she returns to Rome someday.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Go here!! I was fresh of the plane of 10 or so hours in America and I was looking for a bit to eat that wasn't directly in the open so I saw a sign and walked straight there. I'm so glad I found this place it made me feel like I was home again! Warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, although I've been studying italian the waiter talked in really good English which I never ask for as I am in Italy not America. Cacio e pepe was phenomenal and the vino was locale to Roma. Grazie!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here on Thursday. As an American I was very nervous coming here with my wife. The waiters greeted me in a friendly manner and let me sit near the window. Our waiter was awesome, although I do hope hes okay his eyes were red from maybe being tired, but he was super friendly patient and attentive. The food was excellent, get the fried mushroom rice balls (I wish I ordered more), cacio e pepe was at a very fair price and tasted AMAZING, the fritti was good but I heavily favored the octopus so I should have ordered the full octopus, the waiter will let you choose. I even think the owner came by to check on us. Love the restaurant highly recommend it to everyone. The restaurant is also one of the most historical restaurants in Rome. Dont let the negative reviews fool you. Be respectful, ask questions, and they will respect you back.
