★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This restaurant is just exquisite. Not only the food and the effort to preserve some recipes inherited from ancient Rome, but the hospitality of the owner/manager of this family institution: Paolo.
He is not only knowledgeable and has an excellent taste and an adventurous spirit for gastronomy, but he is genuinely kind and generous. (We got a bottle of wine from him as a gift just because we were from Hungary, a country he has been to and he liked.)
He also speaks excellent English and can thus guide you through the menu and his own culinary experiments (the end products of which you get to taste as well :)...)
Highly recommended, even though it is not located in the center. In fact: it is even more recommended due to the fact that it is not located in the center, but on the ancient Roman road of Via Appia, surrounded by the woods, in a calm, residential neighborhood. Just take into account the time you need to get there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you love ancient Roman history, and want to travel back in time to have a taste of their cuisine, Paolo has you covered! We had an amazing assortment of dishes ranging from chicken and a proto lasagna, to wonderful desserts and ancient Roman wine (we liked the wine so much, we actually went to the winery for a tasting). A definite must for the history fan and culinary tourist alike!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a treasure. This meal and experience is by far my favorite of Rome. Divine historical dishes with the stories and jokes that accompany them. The atmosphere and owners create an intimate setting that was hard to leave. This will be my number one recommendation for friends and family to visit when venturing to Rome. Thank you for the memories. We can't wait to visit again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As we approached the restaurant, the ancient road of Via Appia I became already embedded in the antique experience, as I definitely wanted to taste the dishes of ancient Rome. The atmosphere of the place is very special and soothing. The owner Paolo Magnanimi received us very kindly, there were conversation / interest / enlightenment from his part that was already completely extinct in the world today. The food was also very authentic and delicious, I could imagine eating the same foods that were popular two thousand years ago (Pollo Oxizomum & Tiropatina). It was an unrepeatable experience, one of my most beautiful memories from Italy and Rome. I highly recommend everyone to come here.

We stumbled upon this Roman gem while bicycling the Appian way. We were drawn to this beautiful restaurant and wanted to look at the menu; we were welcomed by Paolo and gave us a tour of his restaurant.
We returned for the dinner seating and we had the most amazing time! We were greeted again by Paolo, who was a magnificent host. We were provided delicious food and wonderful historic stories of the food. Truly a one of kind experiece!
For the food - all of it was amazing, but I have never had a better lasagna in my life.... And I tried this amazing dessert, a cassata, which I will forever be on the look out for. I am anticipating my next visit to Rome specifically to the next installment of this experience.
I will be recommending this restaurant to anyone traveling to Rome!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stumbled upon this restaurant and were left amazed! The food here is magnificent and so are the people! Paolo hosted us and he did not disappoint! He told us many amazing stories about the rich history behind the restaurant and the recipes! The pasta with lobster and cherry tomatoes was amazing & my personal fav but everything was delicious!

Beyond amazing food, owner Paolo is very personal and provided extraordinary service and we can’t forget how lovely the inside and area around the restaurant.
