Homebaked Monteverde

Fabulous cafe!!! All American on the border of Vatican City! We feel in love with this place. Breakfast in Italy is not like breakfast in America. So we were so happy to discover this gem!

Carolina and Jesse are simply the best. Never got homesick because of these two. 6 years later we are still friends and keep up! The cafe is definitely a top stop!

Sometimes, we want a meal that tastes just like homemade, but without actually having to make a homemade meal. For these moments, there’s Homebaked, a cozy restaurant representing true American cuisine in Rome. Churning out delicious meals from secret family recipes, Homebaked is nothing short of the tastes and smells you expect from your Grandma’s kitchen. The restaurant itself is tiny, but it’s this quality that gives it a truly homey feel. Like sipping coffee with friends in your kitchen, or enjoying a fresh lunch complete with traditional American fare, Homebaked allows you to relax in a friendly, comfortable environment. With sunny yellow walls, and white bistro-style furniture, the restaurant décor is accented with little nods to the American culture. A U.S. postal box stands by the front entrance, a unique touch to tie together the culinary inspiration with the theme of the restaurant. I had the pleasure of dining at Homebaked in Rome on my own during the breakfast hour. I couldn’t decide between French toast and pancakes, so I opted to get both. Breakfast is the most important meal, right? The French toast was perfectly browned, a spongy texture that melted in my mouth. A dusting of powdered sugar and a drizzle of maple syrup added just the right touch of sweetness. The pancake platter came with scrambled eggs, cooked to perfection, and crispy, salted bacon. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and delicious when paired with a pad of butter and some more syrup. I washed it all down with a delicious Italian coffee. Definitely one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in Rome. Jesse was incredibly welcoming and friendly whether you’re a visitor, an ex-pat, or just someone who loves American cuisine, you absolutely must try the spectacular breakfasts at Homebaked.

The owner wasn’t open yet due to the first day of school but I caught him as he was walking out. He went the extra mile and insisted on making me something quick to go and I truly appreciated it. I needed some eggs and bacon and the breakfast sandwich hit the spot. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it back due to schedule but I highly recommended if you want a more traditional sit down breakfast.

DELICIOUS breakfast and snack place in the Monteverde district of Rome. American breakfast staples are present, prices are decent and the staff is friendly. The location is very small so come early or be prepared to wait. Recommend!

Delicious American breakfast. We had pancakes,waffles and bagels. It was really tasty, good value for money and super friendly staff.

The food was wonderful and the place was so cute. They have so many great options for food that I had a hard time deciding! I got the buffalo chicken wrap and my husband got the chicken wrap along with two Iced lattes. All of it was great. The owner (I think) was so friendly and nice. He made some hilarious jokes and was very welcoming. Overall it felt like having breakfast at home but better!
