★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'eremo può essere raggiunto attraverso un percorso di semplice-media difficoltà in una 20' di minuti di camminata. Arrivati con l'auto a Serramonacesca bisognerà proseguire seguendo le indicazioni e arrivare ad un incrocio dove, dopo un breve tratto sterrato ma regolare, si potrà lasciare l'auto in uno spiazzo che precede la salita all'eremo. Il sentiero sdrucciolevole, ma non così complesso, porta un dislivello di circa 200 metri ed è lungo circa 1km. Si snoda attraverso pareti rocciose e alberate offrendo, a tratti, una splendida vista della costa e del mare antistante Pescara. Una volta arrivati al mistico eremo é possibile visitarne l'interno (sul portone c'è la chiave), la suggestiva rappresentazione del santo Onofrio ed è possibile suonare la campana.
Poco più avanti c'è un'area picnic in cui rilassarsi e rifocillarsi e una fontanella dove abbeverarsi.
 The hermitage can be reached through a path of simple-medium difficulty in a 20 minutes walk. Arriving by car in Serramonacesca you will need to continue following the signs and arrive at an intersection where, after a short but regular dirt road, you can leave your car in a clearing that precedes the climb to the hermitage. The slippery path, but not so complex, brings about a drop of about 200 meters and is about 1km long. It winds through rocky and tree-lined walls offering, at times, a splendid view of the coast and of the sea in front of Pescara. Once arrived at the mystical hermitage it is possible to visit the inside (on the door there is the key), the suggestive representation of the saint Onofrio and it is possible to ring the bell.
A little further on there is a picnic area in which to relax and take refreshment and a fountain where to drink.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Raggiungere l'eremo di Sant'Onofrio è abbastanza semplice, difficoltà minima. Si percorre un sentiero particolare, in gran parte roccioso. Tra la roccia sono stati scolpiti dei gradini. Raggiunto l'eremo di recente ristrutturazione si accede all'interno, gli ambienti per metà si trovano sotto la roccia viva e la rimanenza è costruzione. È proprio bella e ben tenuto. Poco più avanti esiste un'area con tavolini e esiste una fonte. È da visitare.
Reaching the hermitage of Sant'Onofrio is quite simple, minimal difficulty. Follow a particular path, mostly rocky. Steps have been carved between the rock. Once you reach the recently renovated hermitage, you enter the interior, the rooms are half located under the living rock and the remainder is construction. It is really beautiful and well kept. A little further on there is an area with tables and a source exists. It is worth visiting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Eremo molto carino che vale sicuramente la salita di circa 20 minuti (si può parcheggiare in una radura dopo aver percorso in auto 200m di strada sterrata). Anzi, la passeggiata è parte integrante della bellezza della visita.
Se vi piacciono gli eremi vi consiglio di visitare anche San Bartolomeo in Legio e Santo Spirito a Majella.
It is a very nice hermitage which is certainly worth the climb of about 20 minutes (you can park in a clearing after driving 200m of dirt road by car). Indeed, the walk is an integral part of the beauty of the visit.
If you like hermitages, I suggest you also visit San Bartolomeo in Legio and Santo Spirito a Majella.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Faticoso da raggiungere, ci si arriva percorrendo un lungo sentiero accidentato in salita. Appena arrivati, è possibile ristorarsi in un'area picnic. La chiesa poggia su un costone montuoso, molto caratteristica.
All'interno nel retro della chiesa si accede ad una grotta dove si trova il cosiddetto giaciglio "Culla Di San Onofrio".
Forse meriterebbe più cura e maggiore pubblicità.
Tiring to reach, you can get there by following a long bumpy uphill path. As soon as you arrive, you can eat in a picnic area. The church rests on a very characteristic mountainous ridge.
Inside the back of the church there is access to a cave where there is the so-called "Culla Di San Onofrio" bed.
Perhaps it deserves more care and more publicity.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Parcheggio un po' piccolo ma ai primi di settembre non è stato pieno, lo spazio adiacente alla chiesa è sempre aperto e sia davanti che dietro ci sono dei piccoli parco giochi, ci sono i tavolini, anche all'ombra, una fontanella e secchi per la differenziata.
A sinistra della chiesa, oltre ad un info point non sempre aperto, inizia la stradina per il fiume, da lì ci sono 3-4 percorsi, uno per le tombe rupestri dove però la segnaletica è assente e dove dopo 700m circa c'è un interruzione sul ponte, ma vale la pena vedere le acque limpide e celestine del fiume; Uno che porta alla pozza d'argilla, bellissima ma il ponte non è curato; e un percorso ai campetti sportivi. Lì vicino c'è anche un sentiero per l'eremo di San Onofrio, il percorso è un po' faticoso, alla fine c'è anche una fontana ma l'eremo è tenuto male, dentro puzza di muffa ed è verde alle pareti.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'eremo di Sant'Onofrio si trova a 750m s.l.m. nella Majella, nel comune di Serramonacesca, a poca distanza dall'Abbazia di San Liberatore a Majella.
Fu costruito dai benedettini dell'abbazia di San Liberatore sfruttando alcune cavità naturali, per poi essere profondamente ampliato nel 1948, particolarmente in altezza. [1]
All'interno della chiesa si rileva la vecchia struttura dell'eremo, in particolare sulla parete sovrastante l'altare dove sono presenti i fori dei pali per sostenere il vecchio tetto.
Dietro l'altare due porte fanno accedere al nucleo antico dell'eremo. Superando una bassa apertura, si accede ad una grotta ancora non completamente esplorata, che conserva resti di sepolture. È presente anche un giaciglio, chiamato Culla di Sant'Onofrio, dove i fedeli si sdraiano per chiedere guarigioni.
Superando un arco, dalla chiesa si accede ad una prima stanza di transito e poi ad una seconda che fa accedere al piano inferiore, caratterizzata da una pianta trapezoidale ed una volta a botte, illuminata da una finestra posta vicino all'ingresso.
C'e' una bella e breve escursione per raggiungerlo in mezzo alla natura selvaggia...bel posto⛪✋??. Grazie a Dio ?
The hermitage of Sant'Onofrio is located at 750m s.l.m. in the Majella, in the municipality of Serramonacesca, not far from the Abbey of San Liberatore a Majella.
It was built by the Benedictines of the abbey of San Liberatore using some natural cavities, and was then deeply enlarged in 1948, particularly in height. [1]
Inside the church you can see the old structure of the hermitage, in particular on the wall above the altar where there are the holes of the poles to support the old roof.
Behind the altar two doors lead to the ancient core of the hermitage. Overcoming a low opening, you enter a cave that has not yet been fully explored, which preserves the remains of burials. There is also a bed, called the Cradle of Sant'Onofrio, where the faithful lie down to ask for healings.
Overcoming an arch, the church leads to a first transit room and then to a second that leads to the lower floor, characterized by a trapezoidal plan and a barrel vault, illuminated by a window near the entrance.
There is a nice and short excursion to reach it in the middle of the wild nature ... nice place⛪✋??. Thank God ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Eremo non molto grande, sembra più una chiesetta, ma quello che mi ha colpito negativamente e la sporcizia dentro, ogni tanto bisognerebbe pulirla.
Per arrivarci ci sono vari sentieri, io ho fatto quello più breve, dove si fa un tratto con l'auto e poi un km a tratta,con un dislivello di 165 metri, difficoltà medio facile.
Hermitage not very big, it looks more like a church, but what hit me negatively and the dirt inside, it should be cleaned every now and then.
To get there there are various paths, I did the shorter one, where you make a stretch by car and then a kilometer each way, with a difference in height of 165 meters, medium-easy difficulty.
