Apertura il 9 gennaio 2019 quando tutti i turisti rientramo al lavoro, si sa che le chiese ormai stanno chiudendo tutte per ferie o vacanze!!! It is such a hermitage that we found it closed! Opening on January 9, 2019 when all the tourists return to work, we know that the churches are now all closing for holidays or vacations !!!
D	Dario Braccesi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Luogo assolutamente da visitare, situato nel bosco dove ci sono molti sentieri per camminare o, volendo, per andare in bicicletta. L'eremo sorge su una sito archeologico di epoca etrusca o romana (non ricordo ?). Si può visitare dalle ore 9.30 fino al pomeriggio, anche di domenica suonando al custode che vi spiegherà anche qualche notizia storica sul L'eremo e sulla campagna senese. Al suo interno troverete la chiesa con degli affreschi, dove si sono celebrati anche alcuni matrimoni. Nella corte interna è ancora visibile la cisterna della raccolta delle acque. È un peccato che questo posto sia lasciato a "se stesso" e che gli enti locali lo trascurino così... A place to visit, located in the woods where there are many paths for walking or, if desired, for cycling. The hermitage stands on an archaeological site from the Etruscan or Roman era (I don't remember ?). It can be visited from 9.30 until the afternoon, even on Sunday by ringing the caretaker who will also explain some historical information about the hermitage and the Sienese countryside. Inside you will find the church with frescoes, where some weddings were also celebrated. The water collection tank is still visible in the internal courtyard. It is a pity that this place is left to "itself" and that local authorities neglect it so ...
s	sole vivo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Posto in mezzo alla bellissima campagna senese l'eremo è una bella struttura visitabile tutti i giorni dal martedì alla domenica, dalle 9:30 alle 15:30 (eccetto i giorni festivi civili e religiosi). Il custode permette la visita gratuita di ciò che resta del refettorio, in cui c'è un grande affresco monocromo di Giovanni di Paolo, e della chiesa con il presbiterio affrescato da Pietro Lorenzetti. Per mia sfiga ho beccato l'impresa di pulizie che stava lavorando in chiesa e non ho potuto vedere i dipinti da vicino. Cmq vale la pena la deviazione anche perché a pochi km da Monteriggioni. Segnaletica stradale assente per cui affidatevi al navigatore.

The original layout of the Church dates back to the fourteenth century, remodeled several times, stands on the remains of an ancient monastery, located on a hill overlooking the plain which in previous times was occupied by a lake and other swampy areas.

No crowds but you will need to seek admittance from the custodian as the whole site is gated and locked. Ring the bell and you will be invited into a sanctuary of calm and beauty. Recommended
