★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good breakfast - a variety of products to choose from: sweets, ham, eggs, fruits. Ordered coffee better than the one from buffet (but we were asked if we want it only one day). Our room was very clean. We got information about sightseeing at the reception desk.
On the other side, only one elevator was working and once even non of them. No view from the room - some stairs leading somewhere and stealing the light coming to the room. Parking possibilities limited - either driving in the area for quite a long time to find free parking spot (unless you come in the evening and not in tourists season peak) or pay 15 - 18 EUR for parking. I would also say that hotel is rather strong 3-star than 4-star place.

We have had a room with no AC, no fridge and wifi connection as we requested to change the room we had another room instead. But rooms need more attention to cleaning a specially for bathroom and curtains.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unimaginably disgusting hotel. I wouldn't give a single star to this roadside hotel! With a disgusting smell, mold in the corners, decaying equipment, I found that there was no hot water, after which I could not even contact the reception. In my opinion, the health authorities should ban it!

Pros: Rooms are very spacious, french balcony, very dark when windows closed, quiet during night.
Cons: very old furniture, bad wifi reception, few power outlets.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Extremely clean, beautiful aristocratic building, near the ancient island town of Ortygia, in one of the side roads leading to the Ortygia bridges. The hotel is surrounded by pizzerias, sushi shops, bakeries and cafés. This traditional Sicilian hotel is located in an ancient Palace that was owned by a noble Sicilian family. It boasts high ceilings, marble frames around the windows, elevator, a nice open patium with chairs, renovated rooms with modern bathrooms, a very good breakfast with both sweet (many pastries, fruits, yoghurt) and salty (scrambled eggs, cold cuts) items. Pros: it offers quality slippers, bathrobes, quality linen and toiletries, good WiFi, very good breakfast.
Cons/ what could be improved: electrical plugs to be fixed (and USB to be added), much wasted space that could be used for many purposes (example: give visibility to local products that could not afford paying a rent - add beds), kettle to be added in the rooms, more tables and an automatic coffee machine serving various types of coffee in the breakfast room .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed for a week so feel we had quite a good chance to have a proper look and compare.
The location is absolutely great, really close to the island. The building has lovely high old ceilings. It was a beautiful building, not too huge and impersonal either, staff are very helpful particularly the guy on her desk, housekeeping was very attentive, breakfast was a big range, there was always space, choices re coffees and juices etc... there were small balconies with the rooms, an internal atrium and a lounge downstsirs
If you were really really being very picky you might say yhe breakfast lacked variety over the week, it was a bit noisy outside (nothing the hotel can do about that though, and its off the main road, so it's going to be better than elsewhere too) and there was a little bit of water damage in our room.
This was a very nice hotel
