Prende il nome dalla statua del filosofo cinese, posta quando vi era la facoltà di Lingue Orientali de La Sapienza. E' un'oasi di pace, poco conosciuta, del rione Esquilino, con le aiuole e gli alberi ben curati. Dal giardino, oltre che osservare gli elementi portanti dell'ex caserma, in ghisa, si accede all'aula magna dell'Università, in cui, nel 2005 Alcuni studenti della facoltà di Arte dell'Università di Pittsburgh, PA, USA insieme con il Comune di Roma e l'artista Douglas Cooper hanno lavorato alla realizzazione di un murale su pannello (presente attualmente all'interno dell'ex-Caserma Sani, dell'Università di Roma) lungo più di 60 metri e alto 4 mq e in totale 350 mq, con l'idea di trasformare una sala conferenze in una piazza piena di gente e trasportare gli astanti all'interno della storia del rione Esquilino. The Confucius garden is the garden inside the ex Sani Barracks, home to both the Department of Education Sciences of Rome III, and the pavilion of the New Esquiline Market dedicated to clothing. It takes its name from the statue of the Chinese philosopher, placed when there was the faculty of Oriental Languages of La Sapienza. It is an oasis of peace, little known, in the Esquilino district, with flower beds and well-kept trees. From the garden, as well as observing the load-bearing elements of the former cast iron barracks, you enter the main hall of the University, where, in 2005 Some students of the Art faculty of the University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA together with the Comune di Roma and the artist Douglas Cooper worked on the realization of a mural on a panel (currently present inside the former Sani Barracks, of the University of Rome), more than 60 meters long and 4 square meters high and 350 in total square meters, with the idea of transforming a conference room into a square full of people and transporting bystanders within the history of the Esquilino district.

Da qualche anno il giardino è stato affidato all'associazione Respiro Verde Legalberi. The garden is located in the heart of the Esquilino district within the Esquilino Market area. Inside the garden (where the Roma Tre Department of Education is also located) is the only statue of Confucius in a public space in Rome.
