Great place for a special occasion or a relaxed dinner among friends. The restaurant is located off the crowded areas but easily accessible via taxi. Great sea views and nice breeze as it is nicely located in the Marina piccola harbour. The food was great, original but still faithful to Italian traditions. I found some dishes a bit over complicated but still very good.

My wife and I randomly walked into this place after getting to the island. We placed our order and when it came out the waiter brought it to the table and started to talk about how making pizza for them was an art form. He said the sauce was made there in the restaurant, the cheese came from just over the hill. It felt a bit of a canned sales pitch. Then we both took our first bite. This was absolutely the most amazing pizza either of us have ever had. It was incredible. It tasted so fresh. That trip was in 2016 and to this day we still tell people how great this was and recommend to everyone when they are going to Italy. I only hope I have the chance to have this one more time in my life.

An excellent dining experience. While it is located out of the way the interior is beautifully decorated and cozy. It offers a modern take on italian cuisine with excellent plate presentation. Me and my wife both had the 40 euro 4 course chef tasting menu and everything was delicious, especially the ravioli and the rabbit. There is also a 6 course menu available.

If tasting menus are how a chef channels his ideology for cooking, I'd say what we got was a bit too conventional and lacked of that "outside of the box" kick. All the dishes were "good", but it felt like just another delicious meal we could get in any other Italian restaurants. There were no surprises, and did not really worth the money we spent. The ambience is nice though, it felt pretty intimate and cozy. As for the staffs, the gentleman called Mario was very kind and hospitable, but another guy was a bit rough and was always directing the conversation to my male friend (which is quite common in Italy, but doesn't make people outside of that culture feel respected).

By far the best restaurant on Marina Piccola! September 2021: OK this is STILL by far our fave restaurant on Piccola and one of the best in all of Capri. I am updating this because the restaurant made changes. The bad: no more pizza!! The good: everything else, including the most awesome team ever - Ana, Mario and Marco are the most accomodating and friendly and fun people ever they transcend your dining into an overall awesome experience. We especially enoyed the vongole - no pasta just tiny clams in a great sauce - the grilled prawns and the insanely great ravioli, yes just one very large reimaged pillow of love with everything (sauce, etc.( inside and with tomato dust shaved over the top. This is our go-to place check it out! Original 2019: And now one of our faves in all of Capri too. My wife and I had an excellent lunch here. It's a lovely restaurant with outdoor eating overlooking the sea, the service was awesome and the food was top-notch. Nicolina (sorry I'm not sure if this is her correct name) gave us impeccable service, super friendly and attentive and she answered all my geeky questions about how they make such delish pizza. So, we had the Pizza Margherita and the Ravioli Caprese (I know, soo touristy of us...). First the pizza - pretty much the perfect Napoli-style pie. Might be the best crust ever, perfectly chewy and charred around the edges. The mozzerella and sauce were also both very fresh and simply excellent! And the ravilois were very tasty as well, nice and light with a smooth cheese filling and again a delicious, slightly tangy/spicy sauce. That along with a local vino blanco (slightly overpriced, but that's OK) and it made us wonder, after coming to Capri 15+ times "why'd it take us so long to discover this place?!". We'll be back!

Lovely location, surprising and interesting sea urchin pasta and potato mousse dessert, cozy calm setting and service. Only things we were left wishing more for were proactive verbal presentation of what we ate and drank and their stories, as well as pouring/bringing drinks on time.

We had a lovely dinner at Gennaro tonight with the 5 course tasting and the wine pairing. The food and service were great! The service felt very warm and attentive and the food was delicious, local and fresh. We had a nice selection of wines from southern Italy that were thoughtfully paired with our meal. Overall, a great night!

Hi, my husband from Ireland and I booked a table this evening and we couldn't be more happy with the quality and the service. Mario, Giovanni and Manager Marco were exceptional and the food was amazing, you leave with the best experience from Capri. We will always come back to Gennaro Amitrano when visiting Capri. Thanks again to all the staff. Ale and Joe.
