★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great neighborhood gelato, down the street from Santa Croce. The standard flavors are delicious, and they offer some more interesting flavors for an adventurous palate. I love the Limone con Salvia (lemon with sage), and the zafferano (saffron). The owner is friendly and speaks English if one's Italian is lacking. The gelato is made by him and is gluten free. Look for the big colorful gelato statue in front of the shop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came back to Gelatissimi 7 years after my first visit and YES, it is still the place where you can eat outstanding ice cream in Firenze. A must try is "Saffron".... simply unforgettable. The short walk from Sta-Crocce is well worth the effort, and there are 3 tables in the quiet street to enjoy the ice-cream.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you want amazing gelato crafted with care please visit this place. The lower amount of selections is an indication that the gelato is real and made consistently fresh. Saffron with pistachio is truly heaven on earth for your mouth. The owner and staff are wonderfully amazing people. It is worth your time.
