Da Vararo d’ inverno passate le Casere si scendeva con le slitte a Laveno per il mercato settimanale dove gli abitanti vendevano legna e carbone. Casere (Casér in dialetto varesotto) è una frazione montana del Comune di Laveno-Mombello, in Provincia di Varese.
Si trova a 758 m s.l.m. nella conca di Vararo, delimitata a sud dal Sasso del Ferro (1062 m s.l.m.) a nord dai Pizzoni di Laveno (1035 m s.l.m.) e dal monte La Tegia (1106 m), ad est dal gruppo del Monte Nudo (1235 m s.l.m.), la cima calcarea più alta delle Prealpi Varesine.

Casere (Casér in the Varese dialect) is a mountain village in the municipality of Laveno-Mombello, in the province of Varese.
It is located at 758 m a.s.l. in the Vararo basin, delimited to the south by Sasso del Ferro (1062 m asl) to the north by Pizzoni di Laveno (1035 m asl) and from Mount La Tegia (1106 m), to the east by the Monte Nudo group (1235 m asl) , the highest limestone peak in the Varese Alps.
