L’acquedotto fu realizzato da Papa Benedetto XIV e proprio sulla Collatina Vecchia all’altezza della sopraelevata della Togliatti, troviamo ancora oggi, malgrado sia invaso dall’immondizia e lasciato a se stesso, un antico fontanile risalente al 1753. L’ennesima occasione persa di valorizzare un bene storico del quartiere. In via Collatina Vecchia passes the Acquedotto dell'Acqua Vergine, whose waters currently feed one of the most famous fountains in the world, the Trevi Fountain. The aqueduct was built by Pope Benedict XIV and right on the Old Hill at the height of the Togliatti, we still find today, despite being invaded by rubbish and left to itself, an ancient fountain dating back to 1753. Yet another missed opportunity to enhance a historical asset of the neighborhood.

È incredibile come a distanza di 2030 anni e piu sia ancora funzionante e contribuisca ad alimentare varie fontane di Roma, la più conosciuta è quella di Trevi. Fra le varie foto si riesce a vedere una porticina, che permetteva di ispezionare lo stato dell'acquedotto che richiedevano molta manutenzione dovuto al calcare, la concentrazione ridotta nell'acqua spiega anche l'estrema longevità di questo acquedotto. Purtroppo questo breve tratto recintato e pulito dalle erbacce risulta cmq abbandonato a se stetto This Fountain was erected by Benedict XIV who contributed to the maintenance of the virgin water aqueduct. Among the various photos it is possible to see a small door, which allowed to inspect the state of the aqueduct that required a lot of maintenance due to limestone, the reduced concentration in the water also explains the extreme longevity of this aqueduct. Unfortunately this short section fenced and cleaned from weeds is cmq abandoned to itself
