La fontana risale al 1621, disegnata da Filippo Caparozzi fu completata nel 1625 ed è dominata dal simbolo della città: il leone di Viterbo. Decorata con gli stemmi di Odoardo Cybo, governatore di Viterbo e quello di Odoardo Farnese.
Santo Stefano fountain in Piazza delle Erbe, full center of Viterbo. The fountain dates back to 1621, designed by Filippo Caparozzi was completed in 1625 and is dominated by the symbol of the city: the lion of Viterbo. Decorated with the coats of arms of Odoardo Cybo, governor of Viterbo and that of Odoardo Farnese.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Se si esclude l’utilità non più attuale, il suo maggior pregio rimane l’ubicazione. Situata in un posto strategico per essere vista e “vissuta” dalla gente del posto. Non costituisce di certo l’attrazione turistica principale di Viterbo.
Excluding utility that is no longer current, its main advantage remains the location. Located in a strategic place to be seen and "lived" by the locals. It is certainly not the main tourist attraction of Viterbo.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Anche se non una delle più grandi e belle, è forse la fontana più conosciuta di Viterbo data la sua ubicazione (si trova a metà del Corso Italia, la principale via di passeggio di Viterbo e punto di ritrovo per molti ragazzi). La sua bellezza è data dai 3 leoni marmorei, simbolo di Viterbo, che sovrastano la fontana e che sotto la zampa hanno il caratteristico globo con la scritta FAUL (iniziali dei quattro castelli da cui la città ebbe origine). Peccato un pò di incuria.
Although not one of the largest and most beautiful, it is perhaps the best-known fountain in Viterbo given its location (it is located in the middle of Corso Italia, the main walking street in Viterbo and a meeting point for many kids). Its beauty is given by the 3 marble lions, symbol of Viterbo, which overlook the fountain and which under the paw have the characteristic globe with the word FAUL (initials of the four castles from which the city originated). Too bad a little carelessness.
