★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I giardini della Fortezza, detti anche del Vascone, si trovano sul lato est della Fortezza da Basso a Firenze, tra i bastioni e il viale Filippo Strozzi. La zona venne progettata da Giuseppe Poggi, nell'ambito dei lavori per la realizzazione dei viali di Circonvallazione (dal 1865). Il progetto armonizzò i dislivelli tra i fossati che correvano attorno alle antiche mura di Firenze e il livello dei materiali sistemati dalla demolizione delle mura stesse. Vennero realizzati tre piani leggermente sfalsati, con alberi che inquadrano scenograficamente il bacino centrale, la grande vasca ellittica che forma un vero e proprio laghetto, decorato da spruzzi di fontane e ospitante una colonia di cigni reali. Le essenze, alcune delle quali secolari, vennero scelte in maniera da avere un diverso portamento e colore delle foglie in ciascuna stagione, per creare una piacevole variazione nella percezione del giardino.
 The gardens of the Fortress, also called del Vascone, are located on the east side of the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, between the ramparts and Viale Filippo Strozzi. The area was designed by Giuseppe Poggi, as part of the works for the construction of the viali di Circonvallazione (from 1865). The project harmonized the differences in height between the moats that ran around the ancient walls of Florence and the level of the materials arranged by the demolition of the walls themselves. Three slightly staggered floors were built, with trees that scenically frame the central basin, the large elliptical basin that forms a real pond, decorated with splashes of fountains and hosting a colony of royal swans. The essences, some of which are secular, were chosen in such a way as to have a different bearing and color of the leaves in each season, to create a pleasant variation in the perception of the garden.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bel laghetto con annessa fontana centrale. Ci passavamo ogni tanto per fare delle foto ,mangiare un pannino all'aperto e ammirare il laghetto con le sue meravigliose papere che l'ultima volta si sono fatte fotografare ;0)...
Nice pond with an adjoining central fountain. We used to pass by every now and then to take pictures, eat a pannino outdoors and admire the pond with its wonderful ducks that were photographed the last time; 0) ...
