Condivideva la custodia della cappella di San Jacopo ( patrono di Pistoia) con il comune.
Fu sede vescovile fino al XVI secolo.
Oggi è sede museale e contiene il tesoro del Duomo.
It dates back to 1091 and at the time was the fortified residence of the bishops of Pistoia.
He shared the custody of the chapel of San Jacopo (patron saint of Pistoia) with the municipality.
It was a bishopric until the 16th century.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ci intratteniamo ancora un paio di giorni dallo zio e quindi non ci siamo voluti perdere una visita a questa interessante mostra che chiude i battenti il prossimo 8 maggio 2022 L' evento "Medioevo a Pistoia", svolto all' Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi, ci ha fatto comprendere maggiormente un periodo storico ancora sottovalutato nei manuali scolastici
We spend a couple of days with our uncle and therefore we did not want to miss a visit to this interesting exhibition which closes its doors on 8 May 2022. The "Middle Ages in Pistoia" event, held at the Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi, gave us made better understand a historical period still underestimated in school textbooks
