I would very much like to write something good, but I cannot because I have been treated very unfairly. My husband and I are Polish people living here and we wanted to adopt a cat for a long time. On Thursday, I visited the sanctuary and simply fell in love with one of the cats. I checked the information on the website in English, where the adoption procedure was described without reservation, that the cats are given to Italian families permanently living in Rome. I came back today eager to fill out the paperwork and go through the adoption procedure, but the lady looked at me , because of my age and said that adoption is not a priority, and I am too young and we would abandon the cat if we will want to return to the home country. I was not allowed to fill out the paperwork because I was judged imidiately by volunteer. If I would be rejected based on documents submitted I would not have any objection, but I was treated badly and I was not even allowed to tell that we have great place for cat prepared, planned and even checked eventually what we need to if we will want to fly to Poland with cat. I came back in tears and it's hard for me to be judged like that AND STRAIGHT TO MY EYES DISCRIMINATED BASED ON MY AGE - I am very sensitive and just wanted do something good for this feline. I love cats and would never leave an animal I took in under my roof. Message to the volunteer: Not every young person is thoughless and irresponsible!!!

Simply astounding the care and attention given to these stray, often disabled or maimed cats. These gorgeous (and a bit smelly) cats have found their way to the cat sanctuary, and are allowed to walk freely amongst the ruins of where they believe Julius Caesar was assassinated. The sanctuary is free, but they do have a small shop to help generate funds to feed and care for the cats. Wonderful.

They do a fantastic work looking after cats. This place understand the cats medical needs and offer the best care possible. The staff were friendly and allowed us to pat some kitties. Please drop by if you’re in Rome and donate if your finances allow you. Any small contribution counts

I have mixed feelings of this place. The conditions aren’t the best and it’s so cramped, there are many sick cats. The cats outside looks better. They neutering stray cats and then let them back. There are so many visitors and donations for sure from tourist a renovation would be necessary inside .

An absolute favorite place to stop and visit. Walk around this incredible sanctuary. The cats are cared for in such a healthy way. Both medically and adopted. The ones that can roam have a place to live and the ones that have serious conditions also have a place to live in a protected environment. To sit and escape from the hustle and bustle of the world this is def a place to escape for an hour or so.

Our favorite place to visit during our Rome vacation! We visited it on our last day as well, just to say goodbye to all the adorable kitties. We're all cat lovers, so this was heaven to us. All the sweet, and some poor souls, craving Cuddles and attention was amazingly cute and an amazing experience. I've never felt better spending money on something. Definitely a must when you visit Rome!

Not only best place in Rome but on earth. About 90 cats living in ancient ruins… some of the cats are very nice and friendly- some not- just like cats… really nice staff, I could’ve go to the closed cat place and play with more cats!!! There are big and small ones, cute and grumpy.. staff takes care of blind, deaf, disabled ones. Cats meow very loudly and chill out in the sun next to the ruins…… inside you can donate by buying some cat-souvenir. There are really cute toiletry bags and towels.

Had the best time here. If you are a cat lover it's a must see while in Rome. We were welcomed as soon as we came though the door by a very friendly member of staff. She told us all about the amazing work they do for the cats. You could see they were so passionate about the cats. They were definitely very well looked after. She invited us into one of the cat rooms for cat who need a little more care. They were all so lovable and friendly. I fell in love with them all. I didn't want to leave.
