β β β β β I visited the Extrabar in 2004 and the first bite of their cannoli brought me back to my Grandmotherβs kitchen in California. Even though my Grandfather, Giuseppe Grifo, and my Grandmother, Vita Guzzetta, both left Piana di Greci about 1900 they brought with them the βreal cannoliβ.

β β β β β I showed up to this small town in search of the perfect cannoli. The bar keep took one look at me and said, "you want the cannoli?". There was probably no other reason a Chinese-American would be in this town. His people reading skills are other worldly. I nodded my head and it did not disappoint. The bar has been set.
There are many towns that claim best cannoli. This is the leader thus far, though I didn't try any of the other places in Albanesi. I left the town very happy. The filling is just out of this world. The world is a better place with this cannoli in it. I am told it is made in a laboratory somewhere down the street.

β β β β β It's a beautiful bar in the city center. We had amazing coffee in the Extrabar and the sweets & pastry were looking delicious. The owner Nicola is a very helpful and friendly person who can tell you everything about Piana degli Albanesi. We took a photo together after our coffee. An amazing and beautiful experience for us.
