β β β β β The greek style is interesting. There is a great panorama behind the statue over Rome. It looks amazing in the sunset.

β β β β β An ancient Abbey built on the ruins of an older Roman Mansion, some says that this ol d Roman Mansion was the legendary house of Cicerone that has never been found.
The Abbey has been founded in 1004 a.D. and surrounded by a fortress in the late middle age to protect its treasures.
A visit is a must if you find yourself in the neighborhood... Plus nearby you can find some really special for good and genuine food

β β β β β Little gem of a church, Abbazia San Nilo, the last of the Byzantine-Greek monasteries of Italy. It's feels very spiritual and amazing icons and frescoes. Worth the visit and one of my favourite churches in rome

β β β β β A beautiful church - the only remaining example of a church with Byzantine-Greek rites in Italy. Well worth the effort to go there though we couldn't get anyone to answer emails or the phone to confirm the opening hours and it's extremely difficult to get there by public transport (it is possible to take the train to Frascati, then take a bus, but it wasn't possible to find the bus schedule either!).

β β β β β This monastery is one of the only three monasteries with Greek Orthodox Mass rite in Italy, with more than 1,000 years of history (it was founded by the monk S. Nile in 1004). This place is a fine blend of bizantine, Baroque, medieval art dominating the breathtaking scenery of Grottaferrata, at a few km away from Rome. Easy to reach, definitely worth to spend a couple of hours here!

β β β β β Very expressive of the catholicity and its peculiar greek-byzantine iconography and writings on the walls inside the church. It's worth visiting
