Enoteca Mediterranea

Announced by an article in the Mattino di Padova, my wife and I, intrigued, went to the Mediterranean Enoteca on the day of the opening / inauguration. The wine shop is part of a larger initiative that also includes a bookshop (the shape of the Book) and a travel agency (The shape of the journey), and indeed what is striking about the large, bright rooms, furnished with original touches often unexpected and never intrusive, it is that these 3 identities come together in every corner, display and decoration. However, the "location" and, above all, the external stalls - with tables, deckchairs and comfortable puffs - which extend over the greenery, under the trees and up "by the river", are even more striking. The wine shop has a vast assortment of wines curated with obvious care and intention: cellars that are never "mainstream" and interesting products such as Cirò (vinified both in white and in rosé) and the Spanish Verdejo. The "spunci" ... Delicious! Beyond the meatballs (which are however very assorted and very good), we also tasted small plates and small milk with cous-cous, then with burrata and fresh / dried tomatoes, and finally caponata. The staff are friendly, helpful and always attentive, and they are also young, which is not bad at all. In short, we had a wonderful time and we will be back very soon, because among wines by the glass or to buy, snacks and tastings and delicious morsels, gins and tuna cans of the most precious and (sustainably fished) displayed here and there (do not miss the plan below!), we are sure that Enoteca Mediterranea has so much to offer. This is a special place: a wine shop that is also a bookshop that is also a garden and a small beach on the river, right in the center of Padua. The restaurant, recently opened, is ideally divided into different areas, but perfectly blended together. There is a well-stocked library, a Mediterranean-style wine shop and a beautifully furnished garden where you can relax alone and with friends. The wine shop offers a menu that changes every day, so don't be shy and go and see what the meatballs and tastings of the day are. I tried three types of meatballs, all very good, but I also recommend milk with potatoes and octopus, couscous and caponata. Sublime! Furthermore, all foods come from organic and eco-sustainable crops. The wines that accompanied our evening (Sicilian wines and a rosé cirò that enchanted me) were perfect. The staff of the wine shop and the bookshop are very kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is relaxed, but at the same time the details, from the glasses, to the themed placemats, to the furnishings, are well-kept. I recommend everyone to drop by this new wine shop for a glass of wine or a beer and to taste the many gastronomic proposals. You will spend a relaxing evening among the scents of the Mediterranean.

I have been here twice with my wife to celebrate each other's birthdays with a snack / lunch for two. The wine shop is new and under development: it evolves together with other activities such as the bookshop La Forma del libro, the agency of Art and Culture the Forma del viaggio, allowing a rich and meaningful stop. Exquisite wines, from our hills to a map of Iberian wines that will form our tasting attitude, accompanied by curious and tasty dishes that vary from meatballs or vegetables to morsels with squid to vegan specificity. Good taste reigns supreme, favored by the exceptional kindness and civility of the service. We will often return sure to find satisfaction for the palate and our hunger for art and culture.
