Fue consagrada en junio de 1084 por el Papa Gregorio VII, quien fue sepultado allí mismo. La fermata, utile non solo per gli abitanti del centro storico e della zona "del Carmine" fu attivata il 12 settembre del 2003 in considerazione dei treni metropolitani in partenza da Salerno Centrale per Napoli Campi Flegrei e viceversa che, fermandosi in tutte le stazioni permettono un collegamento con i vari comuni salernitani e napoletani. Non avendo biglietteria e personale in loco, per cui bisogna premunirsi di titolo di viaggio, da acquistare presso rivendite autorizzate, la Stazione Centrale o via internet, collega con frequenti corse giornaliere cadenzate Salerno e Napoli e tutti i centri intermedi (controllare l'orario delle fermate sulla tabella in stazione o via internet). Non c'è la biglietteria ma una macchinetta che, al momento in cui scrivo, è fuori servizio. Ottima per andare a Pompei senza cambi da un lato ed alla stazione principale di Salerno dall'altro Station close to the historic center of Salerno, on the FS site it is called "Duomo-Via Vernieri". There is no ticket office but a machine which, at the time of writing, is out of order. Excellent for going to Pompeii without changes on one side and to the main station of Salerno on the other

Station a few steps from the Cathedral of Salerno. They do not stop all trains and are not marked on the trenitalia website. No ticket office.
