★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The porticos all round the city are wonderful. However the path leading to the church on the hill is truly amazing. If you can manage the walk up, then grab a taxi up to the top and walk down.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An Amazing place to visit to everyone visiting Bologna. Here you have an upper view of Bologna and also you get to visit the amazingly beautiful st Luke Church situated right at the top of the hill of Bologna.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We drove to Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca by car. The road is one way, so you have to return on another road, which is also one way. Only then do you see that the sanctuary has a footpath that is fully covered, allowing access in all weathers. The path is sometimes in the form of stairs, sometimes just a ramp. Very interesting experience. We walked part of the way because we didn't have enough time for the entire length. We are definitely visiting this unique staircase or path.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A long walk up ,3+km, you need good shoes as the ground is granite hard and the wrong shoes will cause an issue. It's very interesting to see all the places on the way up where people have a plaque commemorating their life. I wonder why they did this ? Is it like the Jerusalem Mount of Olives idea..... anyhow you feel purged when you reach the top

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What better way to burn off all those extra food-calories that to climb to the very top of this hill, to not only get a sensational view over the city but admire the incredible history and architecture of these beautiful porticos. If it's hot, these porticos offer welcome shade as you climb higher, and the higher you get the better the views are to distract you from your own huffing and puffing! I found the way down was way better for enjoying the architecture and the views. Some people run up, others crawl, so whatever your fitness level you'll feel at home. It took me 1 hour to get up to the top and back down.
Fantastic way to spend the morning.
