β β β β β The place is mystical, it is a metaphor for ceiling our anxiety in life. It makes you want to reflect on the idea that your choices should be perceived as an opportunity to reach your ultimate goal. One way or another, you will achieve it, you just have to keep on going. Always looking ahead of you and freeing yourself from the anxiety of having to commit a mistake in making up your mind on one choice or another.

β β β β β Wonderful. The heartwrenching disaster of 1968, the town of Gibellina annihilated by an earthquake, commemorated in this massive land art work by Burri, the largest in the world. Pure poetry.

β β β β β An interesting work of land art, built on the old city of gibellina, destroyed by an earthquake.

β β β β β I loved it - just so different. Easy parking for our motorhome. Only four stars as would have liked to see an information board even though can source info on Google. Went to visit the new town too but didnβt like it - soulless and desolate.

β β β β β It sure is a very impressive landmark. It's made completely of white concrete and it has a lot of paths you can go. There is also a parking lot nearby. The big downside of it is that there is no information about anything. No names of the streets or houses or anything in general. It can therefore get very boring very quickly.

β β β β β Town ravaged by earthquake in 1968, torn down and replaced with a concrete monument indicating buildings and streets. Not much to do or see here, but it is a good place for pictures.

β β β β β an unusual Art Installation whereby the original street plan of Gibellina and building remains have been overlaid in a concrete cast. It's odd to walk around in an almost clinical environment whiler forgetting that where you were walking was once a real village with real people.

β β β β β Was this the best experience in Sicily? From a point of Land Art, certainly! Very impressive structure in the middle of nowhere. Reminds you of the village that was previously standing here. No guides or information, so better read up on it before you go. Also, you absolutely need a car to go there, no public transport. But all this adds to its harsh charm.?
