Beautiful viewpoint ... shame about the state of abandonment of both the work and the paths ..

Bello, peccato per i ponteggi lasciati lì.
Nice, shame about the scaffolding left there.

This castle is being repaired. There is nothing to watch there yet. Views from the mountains are good as always. The nature is wonderful. A little lower on the road to the castle is a chapel. The road is very dangerous, steep.

There is a considerable hike to find to find very little of the castle. I was disappointed

If you find the optimal day from the castle you have a fantastic view over the valley below, you can get there via a path within the reach of anyone who wants to trek a little.

The "ruins" of the Castle located above the heights that dominate the country of Flagogna, have undergone several stages, interventions of restoration and static consolidation, unfortunately not yet completed. A first document attests the existence of a Castle in Flagogna already in the year 1170, but in reality it would seem that the Castles were two, one inferior and one superior. In 1348 there was the destruction of the inferior one because of the earthquake and with the recovery stones it was provided to repair the damage of the Castle of San Giovanni. Territories occupied by the Venetians (Savorgnan) from 1376 until 1797. The besieged castle was destroyed in 1413 by the Hungarians, and finally a new earthquake in 1511 led to its definitive abandonment.

This was a bit of a hard to find little hiking trail, since there isn’t a trail head indicated in the map, but once you find the trail, is a very easy, pleasant trail with many parts to stop and appreciate something. The final of the trail you end on this, under renovation castle with phenomenal view. The hike is an easy hike for any age, the village where the castle is located has many nice restaurants and little shops. I was very pleased to spend part of my morning there. It really shows that every little corner of Itally is to be appreciated.
