In questo punto, il fiume Ofanto, segna il confine tra la provincia di Foggia, cui appartiene la città di Cerignola, e la provincia BAT (Barletta-Andria-Trani), il cui territorio fa parte dell'agro di Canosa di Puglia. In questa zona si possono osservare diverse specie di uccelli, come il falco pellegrino, il falcone, la poiana, il verdone e altre specie, come il cardellino, il fringuello, il pettirosso; è possibile anche osservare l'ormai raro ramarro, la lucertola verde che compare in diverse effigi e blasoni. Qui, il fiume Ofanto, è particolarmente pescoso e non è raro catturare le anguille di acqua dolce; la fauna ittica comprende le carpe, cavedani, tinche e più raramente il pesce gatto. La zona è particolarmente salubre e si presta bene per escursioni campestri tra una natura incontaminata, da cui si può raggiungere facilmente il vicino Santuario della Madonna di Ripalta, distintamente visibile dal posto.
