A	Antonio Vergallo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Penne è un comune italiano della provincia di Pescara in Abruzzo. Dal 2012 fa parte dell'associazionie de' "I borghi più belli d'Italia". Di origini pre-romane, fu l'antica capitale della popolazione italica dei Vestini. La cittadina è il centro principale della comunità montana Vestina di cui ha ospitato la sede per molti anni. Molto interessante da visitare il centro storico, posto in posizione panoramica su due colli, la chiesa di Santa Chiara, la chiesetta settecentesca di San Ciro, il cinquecentesco palazzo Scorpione, già dimora di Margarita d’Austria, duchessa di Penne, con cortile rinascimentale in mattoni. La collegiata di San Giovanni Evangelista, documentata sin dal 1324, il palazzo Stefanucci, con facciata e portale del Seicento, e accanto, affacciato sul corso, un altro bell’edificio rinascimentale, sede nel Quattrocento del Giustiziere, cioè del magistrato dell’Abruzzo. Non ho potuto visitare il Duomo perché era chiuso per ristrutturazione. Unico inconveniente per le persone anziane sono tutte le salite e discese delle vie di Penne. Penne is an Italian town in the province of Pescara in Abruzzo. Since 2012 it has been part of the association of "The most beautiful villages in Italy". Of pre-Roman origins, it was the ancient capital of the Italic population of the Vestini. Very interesting to visit the historic center, located in a panoramic position on two hills, the church of Santa Chiara, the eighteenth-century church of San Ciro, the sixteenth-century Palazzo Scorpione, former home of Margarita of Austria, Duchess of Penne, with a Renaissance courtyard in bricks. I was unable to visit the Duomo as it was closed for renovation. The only drawback for the elderly are all the ups and downs of the streets of Penne.
