M	Marje Dolores Merenda on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Milo è il comune meno popoloso del parco dell’Etna con poco più di mille abitanti. Sorge alle pendici orientali dell’Etna, circondato da boschi. E’ molto suggestivo l'abitato immerso nel verde e si respira aria salubre e profumata. Per questo il duca Giovanni d’Aragona vi trascorreva parte della stagione estiva, sicché Milo divenne centro politico estivo. Nel 1340 il duca fece costruire una chiesa dedicata a Sant'Andrea, alla quale assegnò un feudo ed ordinò che fosse priorato della Chiesa di Catania. Tutt'oggi i colori di Giovanni d'Aragona (arancio e giallo) sono presenti nello stemma del comune di Milo, assieme alla croce del Patrono Sant'Andrea e all'antico abbeveratoio. La piazza principale è un belvedere sulla costa ionica e sui comuni dell'entroterra che degradano fino al mare. Alle spalle si erge la chiesa Madre, costruita in pietra lavica. Sotto il belvedere sorge la villa comunale e l'anfiteatro Lucio Dalla. L'economia si basa sulla viticoltura, il commercio del legname ed il turismo. Lo sviluppo turistico di Milo iniziò dopo la prima guerra mondiale e deve molto al fotografo tedesco Wilhelm von Gloeden. Simpatica la sagra dei funghi porcini che si svolge in Settembre. Buono il cibo di strada e soprattutto le caldarroste grosse e saporite. Milo is the least populous town in the Etna park with just over a thousand inhabitants. It rises on the eastern slopes of Etna, surrounded by woods. The village surrounded by greenery is very suggestive and you can breathe healthy and fragrant air. This is why Duke Giovanni d’Aragona spent part of the summer season there, so that Milo became a summer political center. In 1340 the duke built a church dedicated to Sant'Andrea, to which he assigned a fief and ordered that it be a priory of the Church of Catania. Even today the colors of Giovanni d'Aragona (orange and yellow) are present in the coat of arms of the municipality of Milo, together with the cross of the Patron Saint Andrew and the ancient drinking trough. The main square is a belvedere on the Ionian coast and on the inland towns that slope down to the sea. Behind it stands the Mother Church, built in lava stone. Under the belvedere there is the municipal villa and the Lucio Dalla amphitheater. The economy is based on viticulture, the timber trade and tourism. Milo's tourism development began after the First World War and owes a lot to the German photographer Wilhelm von Gloeden. Nice the porcini mushroom festival which takes place in September. Good street food and especially the big and tasty roasted chestnuts.
S	Salvatore Virzì on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bel paesino a circa 1000 mt sul livello del mare che fa parte del Parco dell'Etna, caratteristico, pulito, con un discreto flusso turistico e con una vista che va da Taormina a Catania. Beautiful village about 1000 meters above sea level which is part of the Etna Park, characteristic, clean, with a decent tourist flow and with a view that goes from Taormina to Catania.
G	Giuseppesaverio Cavallaro on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Uno dei comuni più belli d'Italia.... aria pura .. cibo ai massimi livelli.. vini doc Etna superiore ( vedi il bianco )... luogo che lascia incantati ... che.... chi viene ci torna ... comune che nn dovrebbe avere un pelo fuori posto... si permette di lasciare una strada ( via belvedere ) ... valla a visitare... vedi il belvedere ... per un anno stracolma di cenere vulcanica. Cenere che se portata su qualsiasi colata nn farebbe altro che accelerare la ripresa della vegetazione... nn ho parole nn ce ne possono essere solo...
