★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Palazzo comunale di Mileto, la sede di una delle istituzioni più antiche di tutta Italia. Infatti intorno all'anno mille questa città era la capitale diletta del Gran Conte Ruggero il Normanno, fratello minore del Guiscardo, il duca normanno che conquistò gran parte dell'Italia meridionale, e contribuì alla conquista della Calabria e della Sicilia appunto del fratello Ruggero. In questa sede il Gran Conte ricevette la resa dagli ambasciatori arabi dell'ultimo emigrato siciliano, quello di Noto, e ricevette dal papa la "apostolica legazia" il potere d'investitura dei vescovi, proprio per accelerare la crisisnizzazione della Sicilia. La struttura architettonica che ospita il comune non la so precisamente datare e al momento non lo voglio neanche fare, dico solo che è molto degradata, non solo all'esterno, ma avendo partecipato ad un evento qualche anno fa posso dire anche all'interno. Vedendo comuni molto meno importanti nel circondario con sedi faraoniche (relativamente agli abitanti) non mi spiego questa "umiltà". Le lapidi poste all'ingresso e lo stemma della città, con corona reale, lo testimoniano e lo richiederebbero.
The Palazzo Comunale di Mileto, the headquarters of one of the oldest institutions in all of Italy. In fact around the year one thousand this city was the beloved capital of the Great Count Ruggero the Norman, younger brother of Guiscardo, the Norman duke who conquered much of southern Italy, and contributed to the conquest of Calabria and of Sicily precisely of his brother Ruggero.
