★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Comunemente chiamato "Palazzotto" è il simbolo più noto della "Dictio Sanctii Iulii" ovvero del feudo al quale il vescovo-conte di Novara concesse nel 1219 ampia autonomia trasformandolo quasi in una repubblica autogestita. Un'esperienza piuttosto insolita nella storia italiana che si concluse solo nel 1767 con il passaggio della Riviera di San Giulio ai Savoia. Costruito nel 1582, il Palazzo era sede del Consiglio Generale che esercitava sia il potere legislativo che quello esecutivo.
Decorato all'esterno da interessanti affreschi è oggi prestigioso contenitore culturale.
Commonly called "Palazzotto" it is the most famous symbol of the "Dictio Sanctii Iulii" or of the feud to which the bishop-count of Novara granted in 1219 wide autonomy transforming it almost into a self-managed republic. A rather unusual experience in Italian history that ended only in 1767 with the passage of the Riviera of San Giulio to the Savoys. Built in 1582, the Palace was the seat of the General Council which exercised both legislative and executive power.
Decorated on the outside by interesting frescoes, it is today a prestigious cultural container.

è stato costruito nel 1582.
È stato per lungo tempo la sede del governo della signoria locale, gestita dal 1200 dal vescovo di Novara.
Il piano superiore era la sede del potere, mentre il portico era( ed è tutt'ora..)
dedicato al mercato.
Sulle sue pareti esterne sono dipinti gli stemmi di tre vescovi e lo stemma di Orta San Giulio.
È una presenza scenografica nella graziosa piazza Motta.
Divenuto museo, sarà presto visitabile.

it was built in 1582.
It has long been the seat of the government of the local lordship, managed since 1200 by the bishop of Novara.
The upper floor was the seat of power, while the porch was (and still is ..)
dedicated to the market.
On its outer walls are the coats of arms of three bishops and the coat of arms of Orta San Giulio.
It is a scenic presence in the pretty Piazza Motta.
Once it became a museum, it will soon be open to visitors.
