La Basilica, affacciata su una grande piazza, si distingue in quattro nuclei, L'ipogeo della grotta e le catacombe, l'edificio Romanico a tre navate e le Cappelle del Miracolo e San Leonardo. Gli ampliamenti e trasformazioni nei secoli di questo imponente Monumento sono chiaramente leggibili fin dall'ingresso alla Basilica. Vale la pena visitarla per poi proseguire nel Borgo di Bolsena anch'esso pieno di attrattive storiche.
PS. L'anno 1263 è riferito al miracolo del Corpus Domini avvenuto sull'altare all'interno della collegiata di Santa Cristina.
On the history of the Miracle of Santa Cristina 1263 an architectural complex of remarkable beauty has been created. The Basilica, overlooking a large square, is divided into four nuclei, the hypogeum of the cave and the catacombs, the Romanesque building with three naves and the Chapels of the Miracle and San Leonardo. The extensions and transformations of this imposing monument over the centuries are clearly legible from the entrance to the Basilica. It is worth visiting it and then continuing in the Borgo di Bolsena which is also full of historical attractions.
PS. The year 1263 refers to the miracle of Corpus Domini which took place on the altar inside the collegiate church of Santa Cristina.
