Small church in Bagnoregio near the Albanian gate, a beautiful altar with a single nave, not very rich in furnishings or statues or paintings, but very cozy, worth a quick visit and a prayer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nel sito dell'attuale chiesa sorgeva anticamente un'altra chiesa, dedicata a sant'Angelo. Questa venne acquisita il 13 marzo 1632 dalla Compagnia di San Bonaventura, che iniziò ad officiare la chiesa con il titolo di san Bonaventura da Bagnoregio.
Nel XIX secolo si pensò di ricostruire la chiesa, ormai cadente, e il 27 ottobre 1856 iniziarono i lavori, diretti dall'architetto Pietro Gagliardi. Nel 1862 vennero terminati i lavori all'interno e venne realizzata la copertura della cupola in lastre di piombo.
Nella chiesa sono interessanti due pale d'altare, un antico affresco raffigurante la Madonna del Popolo e la tela dell' altare maggiore, realizzata nel 1874 da fra Silvestro dei carmelitani scalzi e raffigurante san Bonaventura e il sacro Cuore di Gesù.
On the site of the current church once stood another church, dedicated to Sant'Angelo. This was acquired on March 13, 1632 by the Company of San Bonaventura, which began to officiate the church with the title of San Bonaventura da Bagnoregio.
In the nineteenth century it was decided to rebuild the church, now dilapidated, and on 27 October 1856 work began, directed by the architect Pietro Gagliardi. In 1862 the internal works were completed and the cover of the dome in lead plates was built.
In the church there are two interesting altarpieces, an ancient fresco depicting the Madonna del Popolo and the canvas of the main altar, made in 1874 by Fra Silvestro dei Carmelitani Discalced and depicting Saint Bonaventure and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
