City in Hostel Bed and Breakfast Catania

Good location (quick walk to historical center and airport buses and ~20 min walk to train stations). Clean hostel with good amenities and vibe. Only complaint is that the maid knocked our door 20 mins prior to check out to try to hurry us along.

Well, accommodation is not at all bad, it was clean upon our arrival. The receptionist was nice and recommended some good tours to us.. Then the first morning we woke up to aggressive knocking on our door and when I went there, one of the staff started telling me about having to change our room immediately. She wasn't able to explain anything in English so she tried it with a Google translator.. that way I found out it was something with the bathroom they had to work on and that if you don't change, you will get bored..? ??‍♀️ Then I went to the bathroom and started packing my stuff. Meanwhile she told my boyfriend that we didn't have to change our room anymore.. ??‍♀️ no explanation, of course. The next day we went for a half day trip and when we got back in the afternoon, tired and ready for some nap, our room was open and a guy who didn't speak any English was painting the bathroom walls! Our stuff from the bathroom was thrown on an extra bed in the room. I couldn't even get changed because of the worker being in the room and there was no one to complain/get an explanation/ talk to at the reception. So we left and went to the centre. We have no idea how this is going to work out. No one told is about anything and we don't know where we're going to sleep when we go back to freshly painted place.. well, what a terrible way to run your business.

I am writing the review from a room with 13 beds, there is no enough oxygen to breathe. The toilet smells like cigarettes. The creepy man who drank all these bottles and kept staring at me the whole night is now snoring out loud ??? mixed dormitories must have rules regarding alcohol and smoking

This is a bad place to stay and I don't recommend it . First of all,the price is not correct. They attempt to charge 2 euros extra per day for "city tax "that's not even written on the manual, handwritten receipt . By the way, they haven't even gave it to me ,they gave it to my friend upon request. They try to milk more money out of you without warning ,by surprise, caughting me off guard completely. This is shady way of doing business, and it seems more like someone hustled money out of me from flea market, then professional, proper way of doing business. I'm not the only one who has this complaint. I wasn't provided a key and anytime I tried to re-enter the property ,I had to ring the bell and wait for somebody to open. It is also noisy ,the people in the room talk up until late night without consideration for other guests who want to sleep. The toilet was quite dirty ,I've seen dozens of cigarette butts laying on the floor and in the toilet. Quite unpleasant scene. When janitor enters the room in the morning to make up the bed,she doesn't knock the door,she rather enters around 10 am without warning while some are still in bed or half naked,changing the clothes. Not friendly at all. My biggest complaint however is circulation of thieves from the street who freely enter the hostel whenever they want. They prey to steal personal stuff from the guests, I personally witnessed one of them who forced his way through the door on my way out! No wonder some guests complain of having things missing. The thief shut the door behind me, since I didn't have the key I couldn't follow him. I tried to alert the hostel personnel by phone, but they didn't show much interest,moreover, she didn't speak any English. That was early dawn,that same night,I saw one of them hiding in the toilet like a rat. It was clear they don't belong there. The only good thing about this hostel is location and pristine clean,well maintained kitchen. I would definitely never return.

Do NOT go there!! EVER!! Look at the other reviews as well The personnel is not friendly. They yelled at me at a certain moment for no reason. I left There are also too many beds in the rooms. And the other guests were loud and drunk. Go there only if you have no other option. The Eco hostel is nearby and they are very friendly and it is a way better hostel.

Don't go there. We got 3mx2m room, with the 1,70 height at the highest point :) adult can't even stand there. The lady at the reception was rude and arrogant. After the booking canceled by reservation they have tried to charge me 50 euro for no reason. Also the hall was dirty and haven't smelled good. Update after an hour. The hostel tried to charge me 3 times in 10 minutes. First 50€, then 10 and 5€. They don't care that Booking.com canceled the reservation :))

The reservation was made 1 month before our arrival in Italy. The hotel has confirmed our stay, and then suddenly the day we were supposed to check-in they cancelled our booking after 2 of my credit cards being supposingly "invalid" for the host (even though both were used perfectly fine for payments and another booking in a different place the same week.) Nobody answered texts/mails asking for explanation and the lady on the phone didn't know a single word in English, making it impossible for any communication. Even messages translated into Italian were completely ignored. Absolutely terrible practices there, leaving people searching quickly for another place, with no explanations or tries to reach the guests.

First stay in hostel. The lady in the reception spoke english and was very friendly towards us. We got a 2 bed room with shared bathroom. Its true there is not a lot of headroom but we didnt mind as we only wanted the room to sleep in. The baths were clean and even though we slept with the window open there was barely any street noise.(expet an angry truck driver honking in the morning but thats normal for Catania.) Im not rating 5 stars only because the wifi tends to turn off and on again which made it a little annoying trying to plan a route to take in the morning. All in all well probably go again if we revisit the place.
