La porta è sempre chiusa, basta suonare ed attendere, una gentile signora accoglie i visitatori e fornisce anche qualche informazione utile. Molto suggestivo. A	Andrea Ferioli on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il cimitero ebraico di Ferrara ha sede da circa 4 secoli, in una più belle, tranquille e verdi della città, in luogo dell’antico orto degli ebrei. Vi si accede dalla via delle Vigne attraverso la casa del custode e non dal maestoso cancello d’ingresso. La casa del custode è situata a lato del cancello principale e occorre suonare il campanello per entrare. È aperto tutti i giorni tranne il sabato, ovviamente, e durante le festività ebraiche. Portatevi un copricapo. Il cimitero è compreso tra le mura degli angeli, la certosa monumentale, l’area denominata campagna ferrarese e l’abitato di corso porta mare. L’area, che ha una superficie di circa 6 ettari, è in parte a prato e in parte coperta da grandi alberi. Le tombe più antiche, distribuite in modo non uniforme all’interno dell’area, risalgono all’’800 poiché il cimitero è stato saccheggiato nel ‘700 e parte dei marmi riutilizzati in città. Qui è sepolto lo scrittore ferrarese Giorgio Bassani. È una piacevole visita, il silenzio è assoluto e non si vede nulla dell’esterno tranne il campanile della chiesa di san Cristoforo della certosa, quindi si potrebbe immaginare di essere in un’altra epoca. Le lapidi sono lasciate prevalentemente in stato di abbandono, ricoperte di edera, muschi e licheni, il che rende l’atmosfera ancora più magica. Tappa obbligatoria sia per il turista che per chi vive in città. The cemetery is within the walls of the angels, the monumental charterhouse, the area called the Ferrara countryside and the village of Corso Porta Mare. The oldest tombs, distributed unevenly within the area, date back to the 1800s since the cemetery was sacked in the 1700s and some of the marble reused in the city. The Ferrara writer Giorgio Bassani is buried here. Suggestivo di suo, in più mettici anche la nebbia, ma comunque veramente bello. To enter you have to ring the caretaker, so he opens you and you enter this immense cemetery.
