★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Die heutige Kirche wurde von Karmelitern erbaut , um zwei Kirchen aus dem 14. Jahrhundert zu ersetzen, von denen eine St. Thomas Becket (1316) und die andere der Verkündigung (1351) gewidmet war. Der Architekt Michele Sammicheli entwarf die Pläne zwischen 1545 und 1550. Die Fassade bleibt unvollständig. Das Portal der Kirche wurde von Santa Maria Mater Domini in Valdonega hierher verlegt. Die Kirche besitzt Kunstwerke von Paolo Farinati , Francesco Torbido , Girolamo dai Libri , Antonio Balestra und Alessandro Turchi . Es ist bekannt, dass die Orgel am 27. Dezember 1769 von einem jungen Mozart bespielt wurde. Eine sehr interessante Führung organisierte der Verein Verona Minor Hierusalem, danke.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Due le curiosità legate alla chiesa: il portale in origine apparteneva al monastero di Santa Maria Mater Domini che si trovava in Valdonega nei pressi del Bastione della Bacola: venne abbattuto agli inizi del ‘500 per permettere la realizzazione della Spianà. Sull’organo è incisa la sigla W.S.M. (Wolfgang Salinsburgensis Mozart), un ricordo lasciato da un giovane compositore austriaco che qui tenne un concerto nel 1770.
There are two curiosities related to the church: the portal originally belonged to the monastery of Santa Maria Mater Domini which was located in Valdonega near the Bastione della Bacola: it was demolished in the early 1500s to allow the construction of the Spianà. The organ is engraved with the initials W.S.M. (Wolfgang Salinsburgensis Mozart), a memory left by a young Austrian composer who gave a concert here in 1770.
