★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Predica molto interessante. Peccato quelle musiche Gen rosso cantate malamente, con chitarrina e organo elettronico. Avrei preferito una Messa più solenne, con coro e organo vero (a canne) visto che in questo momento S. Stefano sostituisce la Cattedrale chiusa per restauri.
Very interesting preaching. Too bad those Gen red music sung badly, with chitarrina and electronic organ. I would have preferred a more solemn Mass, with a real choir and organ (a reed) since at this time S. Stefano replaces the Cathedral closed for restoration.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Die Kirche von Santo Stefano Protomartire , ist eine der ältesten Kirchen in Ferrara. Im Jahre 960 schenkte der Bischof Martino es dem Kanonischen San Giorgio. Im Jahr 1300 ging die Kirche von Santo Stefano zusammen mit den anderen Pfarreien von Ferrara über an das Kapitel der Kanoniker der Kathedrale. Ab 1657 wurde die Gemeinde den Vätern der Kongregation des Oratoriums von San Filippo Neri anvertraut. Leider war die Kirche verschlossen und eine Besichtigung nicht möglich.
The Church of Santo Stefano Protomartire, is one of the oldest churches in Ferrara. In 960, Bishop Martino donated it to the canonical San Giorgio. In 1300, the church of Santo Stefano, along with the other parishes of Ferrara, passed to the chapter of the canons of the cathedral. From 1657 the community was entrusted to the fathers of the Congregation of the Oratory of San Filippo Neri. Unfortunately the church was closed and a visit was not possible.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quella che si può definire una vera perla nascosta. Questa bellissima cattedrale, dedicata a S. Stefano martire, costruita nel XI secolo, poi ricostruita nel XVI secolo è stata riaperta dopo tempo a causa del sisma. Bellissima la facciata principale con lo splendido rosone e le statue di S. Stefano e della Vergine; da notare anche il cornicione in cotto finemente decorato. Anche l'interno non è da meno, con tre navate, in fondo alla navata principale vi è l'altare principale molto sfarzoso, dietro al quale domina uno stupendo quadro del martirio di S. Stefano. Ai lati della porta d'ingresso invece due bellissime statue di S. Agostino e S. Gregorio Magno. Sulle pareti della navate laterali vi sono diversi quadri antichi e molto belli rappresentanti diverse scene sacre.
Il campanile presenta sia linee gotiche che romaniche, a seguito delle ristrutturazioni nel corso del tempo.
Assolutamente consigliata una visita. Merita tantissimo.
What can be called a real hidden gem. This beautiful cathedral, dedicated to St. Stephen the martyr, built in the eleventh century, then rebuilt in the sixteenth century was reopened after time due to the earthquake. The main façade is beautiful with the splendid rose window and the statues of St. Stephen and the Virgin; to note also the finely decorated cornice. Even the interior is no less impressive, with three naves, at the end of the main nave there is the very gorgeous main altar, behind which dominates a stupendous picture of the martyrdom of St. Stephen. On the sides of the entrance door instead two beautiful statues of St. Augustine and St. Gregory the Great. On the walls of the side aisles there are several old and very beautiful paintings representing different sacred scenes.
The bell tower has both Gothic and Romanesque lines, following renovations over time.
Absolutely recommended a visit. Deserves a lot.
