I Religiosi che seguono lo stile di vita S. Giuseppe Calasanzio professano quattro voti solenni: povertà, castità, obbedienza, e dedizione all'educazione della gioventù; si chiamano Scolopi (Scholae Piae) nei paesi di lingua neolatina, mentre si chiamano Piaristi in quelli di lingua tedesca e slava. Cecchini on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Non sempre un nome è una garanzia...e l'ottocentesco rifacimento della facciata ad opera del valadier ha penalizzato questa bella chiesa barocca, non grandissima ma comunque importante. Per lo più sconosciuta ai turisti e ignorata dal flusso costante che vi scorre accanto per il transito tra campo dei fiori e piazza Navona, si trova nell'omonima piazza che condivide con palazzo Braschi, sede del museo di Roma (quasi altrettanto trascurato). Dedicata a due santi in quanto conserva anche le spoglie di San Giuseppe calasanzio - che ha dato vita all'omonimo ordine e ha creato la prima scuola popolare in Europa - ha origini medievali ma è stata rimaneggiata in epoca barocca della quale conserva lo stile e un impressionante soffitto a volta affrescata che da la sensazione di tridimensionalità. Bello anche l'organo sulla parete interna e l'abside decorata. Insolitamente vuota, anche in prossimità della funzione, nonostante la celestiale musica di organo che ha accompagnato questa bella scoperta. Merita una visita soprattutto a naso all'insù.
