IX (resti fabbrica originaria preesistenze)
Secondo il Gavini le pietre d'ambone, incastonate nei piloni laterali dello scalone d'ingresso, provengono dalla primitiva fabbrica, risalente almeno al IX secolo.
DescrizioneUno dei più importanti monumenti dell'architettura abruzzese, la chiesa di san Michele Arcangelo sorge nel centro di Città Sant'Angelo ed è costituita dalla navata principale di san Michele e dalla navata laterale sinistra di san Giovanni. Sul lato destro il monumentale portale di ingresso, realizzazione trecentesca di Raimondo di Poggio, con i caratteri della scuola atriana, che costituisce l'ingresso principale, non in asse per adeguarsi alla configurazione urbanistica del centro. Il portale è affiancato dai due bracci del porticato quattrocentesco, con archi ogivali che poggiano su esili colonne marmoree con capitelli di ordine composito. Sulla sinistra, l'imponente torre campanaria di Antonio da Lodi, a base quadrata sormontato da una torretta ottagonale con archi a tutto sesto e oculi decorati con scodelle di maiolica, affiancata da pilastrini angolari bassi e sormontata da una cuspide piramidale. L'interno è ricchissimo di altari di differente fattura, con decorazioni in oro, colonne tortili, stucchi, pilastri in finto marmo e tele, ed è coperto da due soffitti a cassettoni lignei.

According to Gavini, the ambo stones, set in the lateral pillars of the entrance staircase, come from the primitive factory, dating back at least to the 9th century.
Description One of the most important monuments of Abruzzo architecture, the church of San Michele Arcangelo stands in the center of Città Sant'Angelo and consists of the main nave of San Michele and the left side aisle of San Giovanni. On the right side the monumental entrance portal, a 14th-century construction by Raimondo di Poggio, with the characters of the Atrian school, which constitutes the main entrance, not aligned to adapt to the urban configuration of the center. The portal is flanked by the two arms of the fifteenth-century portico, with pointed arches that rest on slender marble columns with composite capitals. On the left, the imposing bell tower of Antonio da Lodi, with a square base surmounted by an octagonal turret with round arches and oculi decorated with majolica bowls, flanked by low corner pillars and surmounted by a pyramidal spire. The interior is rich in altars of different workmanship, with gold decorations, twisted columns, stuccos, pillars in imitation marble and canvases, and is covered by two wooden coffered ceilings.
