★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa della Beatissima Vergine Assunta, conosciuta come Chiesa Matrice e edificata intorno al XVII secolo, è il luogo di culto più antico di Vico del Gargano, ed è stata insignita nel settecento del titolo di Collegiata.
La Chiesa Matrice è situata accanto al Castello di Vico del Gargano, all’esterno si presenta con una semplice facciata a timpano triangolare e un portale in pietra viva, entrambi sormontati da una meravigliosa torre campanaria quadrangolare.
The Church of the Beatissima Vergine Assunta, known as Chiesa Matrice and built around the 17th century, is the oldest place of worship in Vico del Gargano, and was awarded the title of Collegiate in the 18th century.
The Mother Church is located next to the Castle of Vico del Gargano, outside it has a simple triangular gable facade and a portal in stone, both surmounted by a wonderful quadrangular bell tower.

L' Assunta , insieme alla Chiesa del Purgatorio, nel 1826, è denominata basilica per celebrare il Giubileo, indetto da Papa Leone XII. Qui è molto sentito, e vissuto con intensa devozione, il culto alla Vergine Assunta in Cielo. Sobrio e classicheggiante nello stile, la Chiesa è sormontata da capitelli in stile dorico, da un frontone e un altorilievo dedicato alla Vergine Assunta in Cielo, circondata da quattro angeli. Suggestive la statue dei Santi Pietro e Paolo, frapposte tra Cielo e Terra, come a voler sottolineare il forte ed indissolubile legame tra Dio e il popolo di Cerignola.
The Church of Maria SS.ma Assunta in Cielo dates back to 1729. Managed by the homonymous brotherhood, construction was completed in 1741 as we see it today. The Assunta, together with the Church of Purgatory, in 1826, is called basilica to celebrate the Jubilee, called by Pope Leo XII. Here the cult of the Virgin assumed into Heaven is deeply felt and lived with intense devotion. Sober and classic in style, the Church is topped with Doric-style capitals, a pediment and a high relief dedicated to the Virgin Assumed into Heaven, surrounded by four angels. The statues of Saints Peter and Paul are suggestive, placed between Heaven and Earth, as if to underline the strong and indissoluble bond between God and the people of Cerignola.
