G	Giacomo Resta on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Attigua all'ex convento degli Agostiniani, è stata costruita con blocchi di tufo calcareo tra il 1644 ed il 1718. La facciata barocca è scandita da paraste con capitelli corinzi su due ordini e termina con un fastigio curvilineo; la cupola è rivestita da scandole in maiolica policroma. L'interno, a croce latina, ha una sola navata con quattro cappelle per lato, delimitate da archi a tutto sesto che sostengono il soffitto a crociera. Il presbiterio quadrato, delimitato da una balaustra in marmo, presenta un fastoso altare che sostiene due colonne marmoree sulle quali poggia un soppalco ligneo con l'organo a canne settecentesco. Tra le due colonne si apre la nicchia che ospita la bella statua del 1725 in pietra policroma della Madonna di Costantinopoli. Di buona fattura i dipinti incastonati tra gli stucchi degli altari barocchi laterali. Tra di essi la Madonna della Consolazione e Santi e la Morte di San Nicola da Tolentino, entrambi di Diego Oronzo Bianchi del 1752, l'Apparizione di Gesù a S. Chiara e S. Rita di Pasquale Bianchi del 1754, San Tommaso da Villanova di scuola napoletana del 1754. Adjacent to the former convent of the Augustinians, it was built with blocks of calcareous tuff between 1644 and 1718. The baroque façade is marked by pilasters with Corinthian capitals on two orders and ends with a curvilinear gable; the dome is covered with polychrome majolica shingles. The interior, with a Latin cross, has a single nave with four chapels on each side, bounded by round arches that support the cross ceiling. The square presbytery, bordered by a marble balustrade, has a magnificent altar supporting two marble columns on which a wooden loft with an eighteenth-century pipe organ rests. Between the two columns opens the niche that houses the beautiful statue of polychrome stone of 1725 of the Madonna of Constantinople. The paintings set among the stuccos of the lateral Baroque altars are well-made. Among them the Madonna of Consolation and Saints and the Death of St. Nicholas of Tolentino, both of Diego Oronzo Bianchi of 1752, the Apparition of Jesus to St. Clare and St. Rita of Pasquale Bianchi of 1754, St. Thomas of Villanova of Neapolitan school of 1754.

The church is beautiful and I am sure holds special significance for many, but personally I find that once you’ve seen a few like this you reach saturation point...
