Ad agosto, in occasione della festa patronale, il parroco ha invitato I fedeli a rimboccarsi le maniche e raccogliere I fondi necessari per poterla riaprire

Beautiful place Zafferana, a must for those who want to visit Etna from the south-east side, in the square near the mother church there are many bars where you can substitute arancini or Sicilian pizza for lunch. Recommended

L'edificio fu iniziato nel 1731 per volere di don Francesco Gagliano, decano della Basilica Collegiata di Catania, ma la sua costruzione si protrasse per lungo tempo. Il 20 febbraio 1818 un terremoto distrusse l'edificio causando ventinove vittime tra i fedeli presenti.
DescrizioneFacciata tripartita, con la parte centrale a due ordini con frontone sommitale e partiti laterali a tre ordini. Spazio interno a prevalente sviluppo longitudinale, con navate diaframmate da arcate a tutto sesto. Volumetria esterna prismatica a base rettangolare, sovrastata da cupola sulla crociera.

The building was begun in 1731 at the behest of Don Francesco Gagliano, dean of the Collegiate Basilica of Catania, but its construction lasted for a long time. On February 20, 1818, an earthquake destroyed the building, causing twenty-nine victims among the faithful present.
Description Tripartite facade, with the central part with two orders with a summit pediment and lateral parts with three orders. Internal space with prevalent longitudinal development, with aisles diaphragm by round arches. Prismatic external volume with a rectangular base, topped by a dome on the cross.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa in sè non è nulla di speciale. A far la differenza è la sua scalinata in pietra lavica e il panorama che si gode da essa e dalla piazza antistante.
The church itself is nothing special. What makes the difference is its lava stone staircase and the view that can be enjoyed from it and from the square in front.
