★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un esempio di chiesa Bizantina del decimo secolo, sita in Rossano, cittadina che potrebbe essere la Ravenna della Calabria ma che purtroppo rovina tutto con l atteggiamento dei locali e della polizia municipale che invece di prendersi cura del turista cerca di fotterlo senza riguardi, prezzi da Portofino e divieti di sosta volanti.
An example of a tenth-century Byzantine church, located in Rossano, a small town that could be the Ravenna of Calabria but unfortunately ruin everything with the attitude of the locals and the municipal police who, instead of taking care of the tourist, try to fuck him without consideration, prices from Portofino and flying parking bans.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa di San Marco, fondata nel X secolo, è il più importante monumento di arte bizantina di Rossano. Essa sorge nella zona che, anticamente, veniva chiamata "Graecìa". Presenta la forma architettonica delle piccole chiese bizantine a croce greca, edificate a Bisanzio già a partire dai primi decenni del IX secolo, mentre in Calabria arrivarono un secolo dopo. La chiesa trova una sua omologa nella Cattolica a Stilo, in provincia di Catanzaro.

The Church of San Marco, founded in the 10th century, is the most important monument of Byzantine art in Rossano. It is located in the area which, in ancient times, was called "Graecìa". It presents the architectural form of the small Byzantine churches with a Greek cross, built in Byzantium as early as the first decades of the 9th century, while they arrived in Calabria a century later. The church finds its counterpart in the Cattolica in Stilo, in the province of Catanzaro.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The church is absolutely amazing. With its ancient atmosphere you feel to have went back in the past. Outside you can find a gorgeous view of the endless landscape. I strongly recommend this place. Is cute and a must see, as the town of Rossano-Calabro.
