I try to contact the numbers indicated, but either nobody answers or they don't know anything. Even the carabinieri respond to one of the addresses in a center 80 km away. 16 km above Rossano historic center, on the road leading to the Sila plateau, immersed in a dense forest of firs, chestnuts and oaks, stands the Basilian Abbey of Partire, that is, of the Father, in honor of San Bartolomeo da Simeri. (1050/1130) who was its founder. Its construction, datable between 1101 and 1105, in the Norman period, was commissioned by the rulers and dignitaries of the time, to ingratiate themselves with the clergy and the populations. The abbey was founded by Basilian monks, followers of San Bartolomeo, who, in order to escape the iconoclastic fury of the Ottoman Turks, in the 8th century. they took refuge in southern Italy. In this place, from an architectural and artistic point of view, essential elements of Byzantine architecture and sacred art merge with others attributable to the Norman style, for this reason the Abbey represents one of the most significant examples of sacred architecture in Calabria. Over the centuries this Abbey acquired great importance and power. It had a rich library and became an important center of spirituality and culture, so much so that it was a reference point as a seat where many experts in the art of calligraphy and miniature worked, in the footsteps of the one founded by San Nilo. In the fourteenth century the decline of the monasteries began and this too suffered the same fate, up to 1806, the date on which Giuseppe Bonaparte abolished the monasteries. It has undergone several renovations and has been state-owned since 1915. From this place you can enjoy a view from the top of the Ionian Sea which is spectacular and is a place where solemn silence reigns and where meditation comes spontaneously; it is nice to spend a day here in serenity, away from the noise and din of modern life. Located on a terrace on the steep slope, it also allows a panoramic view of the Gulf of Sibari. The area is surrounded by silent and unspoiled nature, which makes the place very relaxing and pleasant. Numerous well-distributed and well-made illustrative panels allow you to know in detail the history and characteristics of the monastic complex in the external path. Unfortunately, it was not possible to visit the inside of the church because it was closed, and there was no indication of the opening hours. Overall, the place deserves a visit for the originality and value of the complex and the naturalistic context in which it fits, but it also deserves a greater enhancement,
