È il primo edificio sacro di rito latino – cattolico di Rossano. Nel 1462 il convento passò ai Riformati, che lo conservarono fino alla soppressione francese del 1809. Al ritorno dei Borboni, nel 1816, la chiesa fu restituita al culto. La chiesa, a navata unica, con una serie di cappelle laterali, conserva capolavori architettonici, scultorei, marmorei, lignei, pittorici di grande pregio. Il portale d'ingresso, in pietra di tufo, di stile gotico è opera di maestranze locali del sec. XV. L'altare maggiore in marmi policromi è datato 1796 ed è opera del frate Giovanni Antonio da Sersale. Al centro di esso è posizionato uno splendido Crocifisso ligneo attribuito a Frate Umile da Pietralia, autore di numerosi crocefissi nella seconda metà del Seicento. Nelle cappelle troviamo un Sarcofago marmoreo di Oliviero di Summa datato 1536. Nel presbiterio si rilevano un ambone e un inginocchiatoio di legno scolpito, opera, insieme all'armadio della sacrestia, del monaco Francesco Di Guido L’ex monastero, imponente ed armonico, che gli sta accanto è diventato il palazzo delle Culture cittadino. The church was built in 1462 at the behest of the Osservanti minors and belonged to the convent of San Bernardino. It is the first sacred building of the Latin - Catholic rite in Rossano. In 1462 the convent passed to the Reformed, who kept it until the French suppression of 1809. On the return of the Bourbons, in 1816, the church was returned to worship. The church, with a single nave, with a series of side chapels, preserves architectural, sculptural, marble, wooden and pictorial masterpieces of great value. The entrance portal, in tuff stone, of Gothic style is the work of local workers of the century. XV. The main altar in polychrome marble is dated 1796 and is the work of the friar Giovanni Antonio da Sersale. At the center of it is a splendid wooden crucifix attributed to Frate Umile da Pietralia, author of numerous crucifixes in the second half of the seventeenth century. In the chapels we find a marble sarcophagus by Oliviero di Summa dated 1536. In the presbytery there is an ambo and a carved wooden kneeler, the work, together with the sacristy cabinet, of the monk Francesco Di Guido The former monastery, imposing and harmonious, which stands next to it has become the city palace of cultures.
