★ ★ ★ ★ ★ LA CHIESA di Santa Lucia è stata oggetto di un lungo lavoro di restauro che, oltre all’aspetto strutturale, ha riguardato le murature, gli stucchi, le parti in tufo e quelle in ferro e legno. Il progetto ha previsto la riapertura di un ingresso laterale murato da decenni. Chiesa parrocchiale, nella stessa giurisdizione ricadono le chiese di San Domenico e Santa Maria, peraltro già restaurate. L'edificio reliogioso del XVII° sec. è stato interdetto alla pratica religiosa dopo il terremoto del 18 ottobre 2001, i cui effetti, ricordiamo, hanno causato lesioni alle murature portanti ed alle volte, soprattutto della navata sinistra. L’evento sismico avvenuto alle ore 13.02, con epicentro tra la valle del Crati e la valle del Savuto, ha provocato paura e danni nell’area geografica compresa fra la città di Cosenza ed il territorio posto a sud del Capoluogo. In quella occasione furono i soprattutto i centri storici, quindi gli edifici sacri, a subire le conseguenze peggiori in termini strutturali. Nell’abside della chiesa di Santa Lucia, ricordiamo, era conservato un altare ligneo, opera delle maestranze roglianesi, andato distrutto il 19 giugno 1981 a causa di un incendio. La Chiesa è stata riaperta al culto nel marzo 2011.
THE CHURCH of Santa Lucia was the subject of a long restoration work which, in addition to the structural aspect, concerned the masonry, the stuccos, the tuff parts and those in iron and wood. The project involved the reopening of a side entrance walled up for decades. Parish Church, in the same jurisdiction are the churches of San Domenico and Santa Maria, which have already been restored. The 17th century reliogioso building he was banned from practicing religion after the earthquake of 18 October 2001, the effects of which, we recall, caused damage to the load-bearing walls and at times, especially in the left aisle. The seismic event took place at 13.02, with its epicenter between the Crati valley and the Savuto valley, causing fear and damage in the geographical area between the city of Cosenza and the area south of the capital. On that occasion it was mainly the historical centers, therefore the sacred buildings, that suffered the worst consequences in structural terms. In the apse of the church of Santa Lucia, we recall, a wooden altar was preserved, the work of the Roglianesi craftsmen, which was destroyed on 19 June 1981 due to a fire. The Church was reopened for worship in March 2011.
