La chiesa che dà il nome alla località è uno dei più antichi luoghi di culto cristiani del territorio, probabilmente sorto su un antico tempio pagano dedicato alla dea Afrodite. Nella chiesa si conserva un sarcofago raffigurante san Giorgio nell'atto di uccidere il drago, una delle prime testimonianze della presenza cristiana in zona.
La vecchia chiesa crollò nel 1434, e nel 1490 l'arcivescovo di Cosenza, il potente Carlo Domenico Del Carretto, ne ordinò la ricostruzione, che fu ultimata solo nel 1523.
 Church of the Annunziata
The church that gives the town its name is one of the oldest Christian places of worship in the area, probably built on an ancient pagan temple dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite. In the church there is a sarcophagus depicting St. George in the act of killing the dragon, one of the first testimonies of the Christian presence in the area.
The old church collapsed in 1434, and in 1490 the archbishop of Cosenza, the powerful Carlo Domenico Del Carretto, ordered its reconstruction, which was only completed in 1523.
