★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La costruzione della Chiesa dei Santi Nazario e Celso è databile verso il 1130, quando tutt'intorno alla collina sopra la quale si erge era ancora presente un piccolo insediamento, chiamato Mairano. L'edificio, dopo secoli di abbandono, fu restaurato nel corso dell'Ottocento tramite un parziale abbattimento dello stesso, seguito da una ricostruzione secondo i principi dell'anastilosi. Quel che conta è che ogni pietra che si vede è originaria dell'epoca del suo maggior splendore.
Si tratta di una delle più importanti testimonianze del romanico piemontese/astigiano, il cui tratto distintivo è proprio il bicromatismo realizzato per mezzo di fasce di laterizio e pietra arenaria alternate le une alle altre. Inoltre, la posizione isolata e panoramica aggiunge un tocco di bellezza in più alla chiesa. Da non perdere.
The construction of the Church of Saints Nazario and Celso can be dated to around 1130, when a small settlement, called Mairano, was still present around the hill above which it stands. The building, after centuries of neglect, was restored during the nineteenth century through a partial demolition of the same, followed by a reconstruction according to the principles of anastylosis. What matters is that every stone you see is native to the time of its greatest splendor.
It is one of the most important examples of the Piedmontese / Asti Romanesque style, whose distinctive feature is precisely the two-color scheme created by means of strips of brick and sandstone alternating with each other. In addition, the isolated and panoramic position adds an extra touch of beauty to the church. Not to be missed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un luogo suggestivo che in giornate un po' nebbiose sembra fuori dal tempo. E' raggiungibile solo a piedi nell'ultimo tratto, ma prendersi qualche minuto seduti su una delle panchine riporta in sintonia con se stessi.
An evocative place that on slightly foggy days seems out of time. It can only be reached on foot in the last stretch, but taking a few minutes sitting on one of the benches brings you back in tune with yourself.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dopo una ripida e,per fortuna,corta salita si può ammirare questo gioiellino in stile romanico.Sforzo ricompensato :peccato per lo stato di abbandono-l'interno non si può visitare- inevitabile data l'assoluta mancanza di visitatori. In compenso si possono ammirare in santa pace il monumento e la tranquilla campagna sottostante con mucche e vitellini al pascolo.
After a steep and, fortunately, short climb you can admire this Romanesque-style gem. Effort rewarded: a pity for the state of abandonment - the interior cannot be visited - inevitable given the absolute lack of visitors. On the other hand, the monument and the peaceful countryside below with grazing cows and calves can be admired in peace.
