Caterina come cita il cartello fuori dalla chiesa è stata eretta come prima edificazione nel XIII secolo proprio durante la fondazione del comune stesso il 19 Marzo 1200. l'attuale edificio è sorto nel 1696 su resti medievali. E' sede di Pievania. E' detta Parrocchia di Piesenzana perché durante la fondazione di Montechiaro sorto grazie all'unificazione di tre nuclei abitativi preesistenti per motivi di protezione piesenzana mairano e Maresco . la chiesa di S. Caterina deriva da quel nucleo abitativo chiamato di Piesenzana risalente al secolo X con la chiesa ancora presente denominata questa però Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta in Pisenzana o comunemente detta come da segnaletica stradale Pieve di Piesenzana (cimitero vecchio). Quest'ultima chiesa si trova come gli altri due vecchi nuclei abitativi distante circa metri mille/millecento dall'attuale nucleo abitativo. Nel battistero di detta Chiesa è stata Battezzata nel 1752 la nonna di Don Bosco “ Domenica Bossone”. Ovviamente questo è solo un piccolissimo cenno storico
