La chiesa, che è dedicata a San Giovanni Battista, si trova vicina ad alcune abitazioni ma è in pessime stato di conservazione, tanto da sembrare completamente abbandonata.
L'edificio molto semplice è costituito da un'aula rettangolare con tetto a capanna e una monofora campanaria in corrispondenza della facciata. La porta d'ingresso è quasi completamente nascosta da un gelso che supera in altezza il tetto.
La domanda viene spontanea: perché questa condizione di abbandono e degrado?
A mysterious little votive church a short distance from the town of Gagliano. The building is marked on the Gis maps but, once you have arrived there, you will find an information table that speaks only of pre-Roman and Roman tombs without mentioning the church which is a few meters away.
The church, which is dedicated to St. John the Baptist, is located near some houses but is in a very poor state of preservation, so much so that it seems completely abandoned.
The very simple building consists of a rectangular hall with a gable roof and a bell-shaped lancet window at the facade. The front door is almost completely hidden by a mulberry tree that rises above the roof.
The question comes spontaneously: why this condition of abandonment and degradation?
