A	Andrea Terenzi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lungo la Via del Colle a breve distanza dall'ingresso della Villa d'Este si trova l'antica chiesa di San Nicola attualmente sconsacrata. La chiesa originaria fu costruita intorno alla fine del XII secolo ma fu completamente ricostruita nel 1590 come riporta la lapide posta sulla facciata. che così recita : "A Dio ottimo massimo e a S Nicola Vescovo, Antonio Migliori, di Acquaviva Picena, vescovo di San Marco, responsabile dell'Arcispedale di S.Spirito in Saxia di Roma, innalzò dalle fondamenta in luogo più idoneo e in modo più ampio nell'anno 1590 questa chiesa annessa al medesimo ospedale dopo averla liberata dalle difficoltà di accesso." La ricostruzione era divenuta assolutamente necessaria nel corso del '500 sia per le condizioni in cui versava l'antica costruzione, ormai minata fin dalle fondamenta, sia per il fatto che la costruzione delle mura della villa estense troppo prossima al tempio ne aveva compromesso l'ingresso : addirittura nel 1573 il Vescovo Giovanni Andrea Croce aveva dovuto rinunciare ad entrarvi in occasione di una sua visita pastorale. Vedrete solo un portone chiuso con assi malmessi che si stanno fracicando. Certo, doveva essere bella e significativa....e sicuramente lo sarà ancora se solo fosse minimamente visibile il suo interno....e invece neanche un pertugio per sbirciare.... quindi non è che il simulacro di ciò che era e privo di qualsivoglia interesse turistico...ci passerete avanti dopo aver visitato (speriamo) la stupenda chiesa di San Silvestro e prima di arrivare al santuario di Ercole vincitore. Guardate la foto e le altre recensioni su Tivoli e su Roma e le sue meraviglie che ho fatto e se sono stato utile cliccate su utile. Sorry ... but how can you give more than two stars to something you can't visit? On trust? You will only see a closed door with shabby boards that are breaking apart. Of course, it had to be beautiful and meaningful .... and surely it will still be if only its interior were minimally visible .... and instead not even a hole to peek .... so it is only the simulacrum of what it was and devoid of any tourist interest ... you will pass by after having visited (we hope) the stupendous church of San Silvestro and before arriving at the sanctuary of Hercules the winner.
