★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa fu costruita all'inizio del XVII secolo dai frati minori francescani, che realizzarono qui un monastero. La data di costruzione è testimoniata anche dalla data 1626 incisa sul portale.
L'ex convento dei Cappuccini si svolge sul fianco sinistro della chiesa, oggi inglobato all’interno del cimitero comunale.
La facciata della chiesa è preceduta da portico con quattro arcate. Il campanile a vela è in posizione arretrata sul fianco destro della chiesa.
Il portico interno del convento è costituito da un chiostro con due file di arcate a tutto sesto e con un pozzo centrale.
L'interno della chiesa è a navata unica in stile barocco, con tre cappelle che si aprono sul lato sinistro. L'altare maggiore con tabernacolo intarsiato è stato realizzato dai fratelli cappuccini Maragoni e venne commissionato dal padre guardiano Giuseppe d'Ascoli nel 1745. L’altare ospitava alcune tele del XVII secolo, tra le quali quella centrale di Giovan Battista Spinelli raffigurante l'Incoronazione della Vergine, oggi esposto al Museo diocesano di Ortona.
Sopra il portale d'ingresso della chiesa è ospitato un organo costruito nel 1892 dal piemontese Carlo Vegezzi-Bossi, come testimoniato da una targa in metallo presente sul listello della tastiera.
The church was built at the beginning of the 17th century by the Franciscan minor friars, who built a monastery here. The date of construction is also testified by the date 1626 engraved on the portal.
The former Capuchin convent takes place on the left side of the church, now incorporated within the municipal cemetery.
The facade of the church is preceded by a portico with four arches. The bell gable is set back on the right side of the church.
The internal portico of the convent consists of a cloister with two rows of round arches and a central well.
The interior of the church has a single nave in Baroque style, with three chapels opening on the left side. The high altar with inlaid tabernacle was built by the Capuchin brothers Maragoni and was commissioned by the guardian father Giuseppe d'Ascoli in 1745. The altar housed some 17th century paintings, including the central one by Giovan Battista Spinelli depicting the Coronation della Vergine, now exhibited at the Diocesan Museum of Ortona.
Above the entrance portal of the church there is an organ built in 1892 by the Piedmontese Carlo Vegezzi-Bossi, as evidenced by a metal plate on the keyboard strip.
